The lack of effort required to make these homemade baked beans does not translate into a lack of flavor. You’ll be the hero of any party or BBQ if you show up toting a pot full of these suckers!

One thing I do not like is runny baked beans. I like my baked beans to have a rich sauce that stays put and doesn’t leach and combine with the other delicious foods on my picnic plate.

Or oh, what about when it drips thru your fork tines and onto your favorite shirt. Gah! Nothing like looking like a hot mess with a soiled shirt at the family picnic!

Nope, I want my baked beans glued to my fork, lol. I adapted my husband’s crockpot recipe to produce the perfect baked bean consistency in an instant pot!  My husband’s crock pot recipe takes 6 hours to make, but with an instant pot I can make the beans in a fraction of the time!

These bbq brown sugar baked beans end up with a rich, thick sauce that is both sweet and tangy. And I was very happy to see that they only take an hour in the Instant Pot.

The beans stayed perfectly in tact and didn’t become an overcooked pile of mush as well. We even ate these for the next two days and they still kept their shape and consistency when reheated in the microwave, in fact these get better with time so leftovers taste even better!

These pork and beans became an immediate favorite recipe for my husband and I. They have amazing flavor that you just won’t get with any canned version. Plus they couldn’t get any easier to make.

The secret to these is to soak your beans overnight.  Rinse the beans off, then let them soak in cold water with a little bit of salt overnight.
