Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you had a fantastic weekend – mine was super busy, but also a ton of fun!

Our pool is officially open for summer, so I invited my bestie and her kids over for dinner & a swim after the Friday night Select Softball practices.  We had the pool opened on April 29th but quickly discovered that one of the pipes had a leak in it.  Although it was an easy fix, it took the pool company 7 weeks to finally get around to repairing it for us.  It’s been pretty sucky watching the pool turn green while we wait for it to be fixed, but thankfully it’s now open!

I love fruit in a salad so for dinner I made Juliette and I chili lime chicken and served it with a spinach, kale, quinoa and mandarin orange salad with a homemade citrus dressing (recipe coming soon). It was wonderful!

Citrus Salad

On Saturday morning I dropped Brooke off for her Select softball practice while Sierra was playing in a softball tournament.  Amber and I then went on a little date to the Milton Farmer’s Market.

Amber wasn’t in a mood to walk so I got a workout pulling her up and down Main Street in our wagon.  She loved getting out to choose fruits and vegetables from the vendors.  We bought a variety of peppers, some local honey, cherries, and blueberries.

As well I couldn’t say no when Amber asked me to buy her some organic popcorn.

img_3205After practice Brooke, Amber and Juliette’s daughter spent the afternoon swimming.  Later in the day Amber began crying that she missed daddy, so we drove to Sierra’s softball tournament to watch her third game of the day.  Her team played well but had a bad inning so they lost their game.  After spending an hour with hubby, Amber decided she was done with the softball and wanted to go home.  We headed home so I could get ready for a fun night of Country line dancing at Nashville North with Juliette and Christine for my birthday.  We had so much fun that we stayed out a lot longer than I had anticipated…

Sunday morning Sierra and hubby left early for her softball tournament.  Her team was in the Pool B quarterfinals and had to win in order to make it to the semifinals and finals.  I was home with Brooke and Amber because we were having a pool party for Brooke’s birthday.  I recovered from my hangover with a coffee by the pool, then tidied the house and went grocery shopping to prepare for Brooke’s pool party.  In the afternoon Brooke’s friends came over and spent a few hours swimming and playing in the backyard.  For her birthday one of Brooke’s friends gave her a fish (I call him/her Bob).  Brooke LOVES animals so she was excited to have her own pet – thankfully her sister’s weren’t jealous at all, I don’t know if I could handle having to clean out 3 fish bowls every week!

During the party hubby texted me to let me know that not only did Sierra’s team win their quarter final game, but they also won their semifinal game and were playing in the Pool B final game at 4!  The timing was perfect as that’s right around the time Brooke’s party was ending so after the party I packed up Brooke and Amber and headed to watch Sierra’s team.  Sierra played well and had a good hit, a walk and laid down an amazing bunt.  The game was exciting to watch as the score yo-yoed back and forth from being ahead, to being tied, to being down, to being tied again.  In the end they lost by only one run with a final score of 11-10.  Her team was so excited to win silver because they are a Jr team in their age group with a few under age players and the other team was a mix of Junior and Senior players.  Next year when they’re Seniors they’ll dominate!

After the game we all went out to Lone Star to celebrate my birthday, Brooke’s birthday and Sierra’s tournament.  I had the steak salad and it was delicious!  Once we got home I decided to put the leftover blueberries to good use and made a yummy blueberry vinaigrette:

  1. Ah, your girls look so happy to have the pool open! I don’t have a pool, but There is an outdoor city pool about 300 m from my house that I’ve already enjoyed often since it opened on July 1. Sounds like you had a great birthday weekend! Enjoy your week Jancie!
