How Many Pairs of Workout Shoes Do You Own?

I may need to rename this post “An ode to my Asics” because I only own ONE pair of running shoes:

Today’s September Blogging Challenge topic is:

How many pairs of workout shoes do you own?

As a mom of three, I don’t get a lot of extra money to spend on myself – instead I prefer to use any extra money I have to enrich my daughters’ lives: Hockey, skating, gymnastics, swimming, soccer, etc… I’d rather see them develop a love of sports instead of spending money on myself.  This is why I only have one pair of running shoes.

Yep – you read that right.

My beautiful (but smelly) pink Asics have run (according to Nike+) 628km in 2011, and 535km in 2012 with me, and have also attended numerous spinning, bodypump and mommy & baby fitness classes.  They have definitely served me well.  I’ve also managed to run mostly injury free during that time!  I got them somewhat as a Christmas gift from my mom – she gave me a Running Room gift card for Christmas which covered a good chunk of the purchase, and then I paid the rest.

Hubby was pissed.

“How could you spend so much money on a pair of shoes? I know what Asics cost, and that’s A LOT of money for something that will only last you 3 months.”

I like to think that I proved him wrong.  But maybe he was just using reverse psychology?  Perhaps he knew full well that a statement like that would encourage me to get as much use out of my shoes as I possibly can.  I think it worked.

Dear Santa, I need new shoes… badly!

As much as I love love love my beautiful pink Asics – it’s time to take them on a mud run, and replace them with something newer (and perhaps less stinky).

Oh man you need a new pair! Just tell your husband that a new pair will keep you from getting injured and cost less than physical therapy:) I am embarrassed to say I have about 4 pairs (2 Brooks, 2 Asics) plus some really old ones that I can’t seem to throw away. Weirdly sentimental. Good luck on getting some new ones:)

Haha, I have a lot of shoes. But I have no children, so I’m selfish and spend all my money on running shoes and Lululemon clothes =O

I have about 6 or 7 pairs of workout shoes. But I teach about 9 classes a week during the school year. And I have 2 pair of walking shoes and a pair of hiking shoes. But no running shoes, as I hate running. Any suggestions for good walking shoes for a half marathon? I’ll be walking! Thanks

I actually have two. I have one pair that I wear to the gym to work out and one that I go dancing in. Nothing too special, in fact I’m pretty sure I got both at Wal-Mart. But they work for me!
