#dosomething Day 5 – Perseverance

Wednesday night I went to bed with the best of intentions – I had my gym clothes on, my water bottle packed and my iphone alarm set. I was all ready for my 6 am BodyPump class at the gym…

12:30 am – Brooke crawled into bed with me.  Which is completely fine if she rolls over and goes right to sleep.  Unfortunately that didn’t happen – instead she had what we call the “jimmy legs”.  The kicking and moving went on for half an hour, I then insisted that she try to go potty and try to sleep in her own bed, which of course, was met with tears, but eventually she obeyed (and fell asleep).

1:30 am – Amber woke up, giggling and playing in her bed.  I got up and nursed her back to a sleepy state.  I then crawled back into bed and listened to her put herself to sleep (slurping her fingers).

3:30 am –  Amber woke up, giggling and playing in her bed.  I got up and nursed her back to a sleepy state.  I then crawled back into bed and listened to her put herself to sleep (slurping her fingers). See a pattern here?

5:30 am – my alarm went off – I turned it off and went back to sleep…

6:45 am – Brooke came in to cuddle – Oops I missed my class!

I was exhausted, but I didn’t let a missed class stop me.  Thankully BodyPump class is also taught at 9:30, so I dropped Sierra off at school, Brooke off at Preschool and Amber off at the gym daycare.  I was a wee bit late, and I also got called out of class to nurse Amber (ahhh the life of a mom) but I managed to do about 35 min of the class!  Awesome!!

I then went shopping at Square 1 (a mall in nearby Mississauga) with Amber…

I was supposed to go to LuLuLemon and figure out what I size I wore there so that hubby could go back and pick out a Mother’s Day gift for me.  I had been complaining to him that my Yoga pants had lost it’s elasticity and were falling off, so the awesome guy that he is suggested that LuLuLemon yoga pants might offer a better fit than my cheapo WalMart yoga pants.  Truthfully I’ve never even stepped foot in LuLuLemon before! I went absolutely GA GA over the very luxurious fitness gear! Oh my goodness! LOVE!  My brain flew out of my head and I bought myself some capris and a tank top 😳 I was supposed to let hubby pick out a gift for me:

Lunch – I tweeted Tina (@virgomommy) who you might remember is running a 10k with me next weekend, and invited her to lunch with me. We’ve never met before in person!  She was able to join me at Subway, and we had a great chat – It was as if we were old pals getting reacquainted.  She’s awesome and I totally can’t wait for our 10k with Roz (@rozbatson) in a week from now.

After lunch I was faced with a choice.  I could either:

Stay at the mall until I had just enough time to drive straight to Sierra’s school and get her.

~ OR ~

Drive home, change into my brand spanking new LuLuLemon outfit and go for a run with a sleeping Amber in the jogging stroller.

Guess what I chose?

OK, so I didn’t exactly run.  I power walked with a friend of mine who happened to be walking past our house as I was about to embark on my run.  We picked up the kids (her son is in Sierra’s Kindergarten class), stopped at the park to allow the kids to play, then walked home together.  In that time we even planned a playdate for the kids next Wednesday.

Our power walk

Once home I changed into my brand new skinny jeans (YAY! Working out is paying off!) and headed out to a special Mothers Day Tea at Brooke’s preschool.  I was the first mom there, which really made Brooke feel special and I had fun seeing her interact with her cute friends.  Brooke then presented me with my Mother’s Day gift that she planted and has been caring for herself:

My Mother's Day gift

Despite a horrible start to my day, I’d say my perseverance paid off.  I *could* have just as easily stayed home with Amber and folded laundry etc. I don’t think that would have been nearly as much fun as the day I created for myself.

Question: What do YOU want for Mother’s Day?

Sounds like you had a fun day! I want a million dollars for Mother’s Day. If that’s not possible a paper cutter from Staples would be nice. I’ll send you a link. 🙂

Way to stay motivated and work the exercise back into your schedule. I can’t believe you’ve never been in Lululemon before! I have a very bad disgusting habit when it comes to that place. I pretty much buy myself something new every time I accomplish a race.

[…] it to BodyPump class ON TIME!  (A big feat for this mom of three, and you may remember that I was rather late last week).  I must admit I had a little help… Hubby dropped the two oldest off at school […]
