Thursday Thoughts: To Streak or Not? #RWRunStreak

Joining in again with Amanda from running with spoons for Thursdays are for Thinking Out Loud….

Every year I sit back in amazement of those runners who join the Runners World annual holiday run streak. The idea seems simple enough, run at least 1 mile everyday between Thanksgiving and New Year’s – that’s only 37 days. There are even some runners who start the streak, then continue streaking for years!

RW Run Streak

Like I said, I normally sit back in amazement watching my friends tweet out all of their runs with the #RWRunStreak hashtag every day, but I have never jumped in before. For one reason or another, I usually miss the first day of the run streak and then think, well what’s the point? Maybe I’ll do it next year? But not this year! This year I just happened to have gotten up at o’dark thirty (aka 5:30 am) for my morning run with my best running friend. Which started the wheels turning in my head…. Perhaps this year I should join in? I have to admit that I need that proverbial kick in the pants to get back running more often. Being motivated without having a training plan or a race on my schedule has proven to be much more difficult than I thought.

So yeah – this is me, throwing my hat in and joining in….

I got my first run in today – it was a nice and relaxed almost 5 miles with Juliette. We talked about all kinds of things – work troubles, Christmas shopping plans, kid stuff etc.. You know, the usual kind of mom talk. I swear our running is as much therapeutic as it is fitness related.
