Disclosure: This PREMIER PROTEIN review is sponsored  through my partnership with Fitfluential. As always, all opinions are my own.Premier Protein Yogurt Peanut Crunch Gluten-Free Protein Bar 30g of protein, 3g of fibre.Recently I teamed up with Fitfluential to do a review of gluten-free PREMIER PROTEIN bars.  I was a little nervous about it because I’ve pretty much given up on protein bars because they’re either too gritty, too chewy, flavourless, or a weird combination of all three.  Pretty much all protein bars I’ve tried up until now sucked.

So why did I say yes?

Because I love PREMIER PROTEIN shakes.  I had the opportunity to review their shakes last year and we loved them.  At that time my middle daughter was going through a phase where she wouldn’t eat the lunch we sent to school with her, so we put PREMIER PROTEIN shakes in her lunch and she LOVED them.  We still occasionally slip one in her lunch, she especially loves the chocolate shakes.  If it was up to her she would eat nothing except for carbohydrates so we welcomed this method of sneaking some protein into her.

I was admittedly hesitant to try the PREMIER PROTEIN bars so they sat on our kitchen counter for a few days before my husband helped himself to one while I was at work.  He’s more critical of protein bars than me so when he sent me a text to tell me that “Wow, those protein things on the counter aren’t offensive” I was surprised.  Later at home I grilled him for more feedback. He told me they have no aftertaste, the texture was decent, and that he would eat another.  (As I’m writing this I asked him if he ate another to which he confessed that he indeed did).

The package I received in the mail has 18 bars with three flavours in it (6 of each flavour):

Chocolate Peanut Butter
Yogurt Peanut Crunch
Dark Chocolate Mint

My oldest daughter was next to try a bar.  She LOVES mint and chocolate together so she was excited to have one as a “treat” after her rep hockey tryout. She liked it so much that she proceeded to stash the rest of the mint chocolate bars in her hockey bag for the rest of tryout week.

FINALLY – I tried the PREMIER PROTEIN bars. There are several things I really liked about these bars….

First off, they are HUGE!  They are also high in calories (about 290), but that’s because they are so giant.  I only ate about 1/2 of the bar at a time (and shared the rest with my co-worker – she liked them too).

I LOVE that each bar has 30 grams of healthy protein, yet doesn’t have a ton of sugar or fat.

I LOVE that these bars are really filling!  Even though I only ate 1/2 of a bar at a time, it always filled me up and stopped my mid-afternoon hunger pangs.

I LOVE how portable protein bars are too.  I like to keep one in my purse in case of “emergencies” at hockey or softball practice. These will be great after a workout as well.  I tried all 3 flavours, but my favourite was Chocolate Peanut Butter – I could live off of these, delicious!

Bonus points are scored for these bars being gluten-free, a source of calcium with 3g of fibre!
