Do You Log Your Workouts or Keep a Food Diary?

Hey guys! Today is day 6 of the September Blogging Challenge and I have to say that I was blown away by the awesome places you guys workout! There’s so much beauty in the world ” isn’t it awesome to workout amongst it?

Today’s challenge topic is:

How do you log your eating and/or workouts?

When I first started back on the healthy living path, I was focused on post-partum weight loss, so I logged my food. However, about 2 months into that, it came to my attention that simply logging calories with the “Loseit” iPhone app didn ‘t ensure I was getting the vitamins and nutrients my body needed. I then began to tally on a sheet of paper how many servings of fruits and veggies I consumed. This really made weight loss a lot easier ” when I ate enough fruits and veggies, protein etc, I found that I wasn’t hungry for other crap. I just naturally ended up consuming less calories and my baby weight fell off.

With exercise, I track with all kinds of different apps and websites. If my GPS doesn’t log it, then I feel like it didn ‘t happen. I use the ismoothrun app on my iphone which auto posts to RunKeeper, Nike+ and DailyMile for me. It also posts to Facebook. I know to all of my Facebook friends and family it may seem like I ‘m bragging, but what I ‘m really doing is keeping myself accountable. As well, as I’ve mentioned, I also follow a training plan, and on it I also have a space for recording my workouts, how I feel etc. The training plan is an excel spreadsheet that I keep at work.

I use MyFitnessPal when I fall off the wagon a bit and need to get a handle on my calories, but never use it for workouts. I tend to use Daily Mile but only for the tracking – I’m horrible at the social media aspect of it. There’s only so many platforms I can keep up with!

I recently quit Weight Watchers, so I’m looking for a new system to log my food and workouts. I’m currently trying Daily Burn. I downloaded it and tried it a while ago (maybe last year?), but I’ve only been using it steadily for less than two weeks. I really like it so far!

For awhile I kept track of all my workouts and what I was eating in a fitness logbook that Moleskine created. It started to drive me a little crazy and make me obsessive about whether or not I was working out as many hours as the previous week. Anyone else have this problem?

I track my food and my workouts on SparkPeople.com I have been on there for almost six years and lost almost 100 pounds and kept it off during that time. Definitely works for me!

I kept track of my calories myself originally, just a thing too look up calories and a spread sheet… Amber put me on to myfitnesspal.com (Chrispy47) because she is keeping track and I sort of did anyways still. To track workouts I use mapmyride.com and mapmyrun.com for just to have maps of the distances than anything else. and I have a duotang at the gym that has my most current sheet in it for strength workouts
