Pinterest not Thinterest

This week I’ve been hating on Pinterest over images that people pin that encourage thinness rather than being HEALTHY, images such as this one:

ICK! The caption with it? “Skinny Food Pyramid” (OMG!).

Pinterest not Thinterest
Instead of giving up I did some more digging for GOOD images to pin to my MOTIVATION board – good as in they encourage HEALTHY living, and lo and behold – I found LOTS of them! Here are a few of the hidden gems I found:

Unfortunately this image on Pinterest didn’t link to it’s original source

I guess what I’m trying to say visually, is that there are images I LOVE (and images I don’t) on Pinterest, and what I may find motivating, is not always what others find motivating (and that’s ok). That said, I will continue to pin images that i *think* encourage a healthy body image, and motivate us to strive to be our best – stronger, faster, more flexible etc. We’re all different and that’s ok.

Happy pinning!

I don’t use pinterest often (gasp!). I like it, but just can’t find the time! I’ve missed seeing the images you’re talking about, but yuck. That’s annoying. I love the ones you found though. I really like that Bruce Lee quote. It’s so true! I think I’ll have to pin this so I remember it :).

there are a lot of irritating and gross things posted that just make me want to smack a person or two.. However, I find that there are MORE bada$$ and awesome ones than there are crappy ones. 🙂

THANK YOU! I can not stand “thinspiration” or “fitspiration”. I don’t find motivation by looking at other people’s bodies. We don’t even know if those people are healthy. I find my motivation in MYSELF as I find what is HEALTHY for ME. Alright I’ll stop 🙂 Great post.

Just as there are blogs promoting skinny over healthy – the same thing was bound to happen on Pinterest! But ugh, I’m with you! I’ll keep posting images that promote healthy body, healthy mind. 🙂

Thank you! I did research on “thinspiration” in graduate school and it is so dangerous and disheartening. I’m glad someone else is acknowledging this! Have a great day and keep up the amazing blogs 🙂
