Life is Too Short, Run the Race – My May Goals #MotivateMe Monday

Hooray it’s May! And guess what else?!?  Hockey is over!!!! Hallelujah!

The magnolia (?) tree in my backyard is in full bloom and I couldn’t be happier!

May is going to be an exciting month for me because I have a lot of amazing things going on that I’m crazy excited about.  

Before I get into those, let’s recap April…

April was a horrible terrible no good month.  After a great March that saw me back in my running groove, April took a bit of a nosedive.  One step forward, two steps back seems to be my mantra this year.  

I joined a boot camp class and went three times, I also joined a Yoga class and went three times.  I was excited to go to the boot camp class twice a week but after the first class I found that it left me feeling too sore to run, so I had to cut back to once a week 🙁  When I finally recovered from each of those workouts my running was great, then I came down with a nasty good for nothing cold, so I had to take a week off.  Last week was much better – I ran 4 times, did a Fitness Blender workout and a yoga workout.  

April is when the girls have their Provincial hockey finals and hockey tryouts.  Hockey tryouts is a crazy week – 13 tryouts in 7 days 😮  But by the end of it all both girls were happy with who they signed with.  Brooke (my middle daughter) signed as one of two goalies for Brampton Atom A, and her big sister Sierra signed as the only goalie for Mississauga Peewee B.

Tryouts

This brings me to May and the things I’m excited for….

New shoes is exciting in itself, but the reason for receiving them is even more exciting….

 Last week I got to meet my team (Cathy, Carmy, Allison and Krysten) at Reebok Canada head office to learn more about the Reebok brand and their partnership with Ragnar.  Reebok has realised that running is the engine of fitness.  The tree sides of the Reebok delta logo symbolises the Physical, Mental and Social changes that occur through fitness.  These are what it means to be human.

 My other big race is THIS weekend!  My best running friend Becky is running her first full marathon and is going to also try to qualify for Boston so Juliette and I will be running the half marathon to support her.  We’ll be running the Mississauga Half Marathon on Sunday – wish me luck!

 Although I am probably severly undertrained for both of these events I’m going to do them anyways.  My mantra this month will be:
