This Kind of Just Happened

Today, as I was minding my own business, working on a client project, I noticed that my wallet was sitting on my desk.  It looked kind of lonely and bored:

Lonely and bored wallet.

So I picked it up and thumbed through it, and found a VISA gift card sitting in it that hadn’t been activated yet – it still had the full $125 on it.  Hmmmmm…

Found money!

Now what can I spend this on?!?  Since I just bartered for a new pair of Mizuno Women’s Wave Rider 17 Running Shoes in a Garage Sale group that I belong to, I no longer need new running shoes.  My beloved Saucony Virratas have about 1000 km’s and are now holy and really really stink.  Oh wait, I know….

 Chilly Half Marathon

Remember the half marathon that I was debating signing up for?  Well it looks like I found the answer to that debate in the form of that VISA gift card.  Hubby had already said that he had no problem with bringing the three girls to hockey that morning, so the only thing standing in my way was confidence in my ability to finish the race, and $96 (why on earth are races so expensive?  Shouldn’t there be a lower price option for those that don’t want yet another running jacket?).

So it looks like I made my decision and I’m officially in “taper mode”.

So yeah – next Sunday I’m running a half marathon, whether I’m running or not.  I’m hoping that the results of this race gives me the proverbial kick in the pants to REALLY start training.

What’s the craziest thing your credit card and laptop ordered for you?

Good luck with the run Janice, I am sure you will do amazing… you are competitive 🙂

I would join up more with 5 and 10 k’s… they are just too expensive and that is kind of sad. I am going to spend the money on a color run and dye… it is something I have wanted to do for a long time and I am going to do the Bluenose which has it all… a 5k, 10k, half marathon and a whole one… I am aiming to do the 10k… I just wish the weather could get better so I could really put in the work… Oh well, I think I just have to freeze and do it regardless… 🙂

People today are workaholic and they don’t give any importance to their health. It i a fact for both the genders. But they need to remember that money is a important thing in life but if we don’t live that long so what the hell we do with the earnings.Janice you’re a mom of 3 and like many people such as you should take care to their health thinking about their little ones.I agree with you the marathons today are a little bit expensive but still we should think about the health before money as such events are full of positive energies.

Oh Emma, that would be awesome! The race expo is rarely any good anyways. Do you want me to come and pick you up before the race? Are you meeting up with Phil & the gang before hand?

Yeah the ‘expo’ for this one is usually pretty limited. We can meet at my house? We are parking the same place as last year, although since my hubs is running the race (his first half, sniff, i’m so proud) we will probably also drive down.
