How Fitness is Like Parenting #MotivateMe Monday

The other day I had a meeting with a co-worker and somehow we got to talking about kids and the juggle of parenting, fitness and somehow managing to stay employed.  She also has three kids who have the exact same age spread as mine only hers are three years younger than mine.  My daughters are 11, 9 and turning 6 while hers are 8, 6 and turning 2.  She was exhausted and thanks to the cost of daycare, pretty much working for nothing.  It was like looking at myself in a mirror 3 years ago.  It was such a frustrating hard time in life but I somehow managed my way through it, to the point where I can barely remember those days.

It’s funny how fitness is kind of like parenting.  When you first start out it’s pretty hard and tiring. Like having kids, it can also be pretty costly to get started – shoes, water bottles, equipment, weights etc.  The thing is, as time goes by, fitness starts to become a natural part of your life and you can’t imagine your life without it.  It’s easier and each workout doesn’t leave you nearly as tired as they used to.  The expense seems to ease up once you have all the equipment you need as well.  The hardest part is getting started but once you do you’ll wonder why you didn’t start sooner.brooke

Last week’s fitness: 

Monday: 8k morning run + lower body strength workout
Tuesday: upper body strength workout
Wednesday: 6k hill repeats morning run + BodyPump at GoodLife Fitness
Thursday: upper body strength workout
Friday: 6k morning run + lower body strength workout
Saturday: 10k run Run the loop around the park while the kiddos play at the park.
Sunday: Rest/recovery

Admittedly I’m off to a really slow start on getting my fitness motivation going this week and have taken it too easy the past few days.

This week’s fitness goals:

Monday: Rest
Kettlebell workout
Wednesday: 6k hill repeats
: upper body strength workout
Friday: 6k morning run + lower body strength workout
Saturday: 10k run
Sunday: Kettlebell workout

    Good analogy! Fitness can be challenging and tiring when you first begin but then you wonder why you didn’t start sooner.

    It’s true that cardio and diet gets rid of cellulite but there is a specific way of cardio and exercise routine for that. Dieting is for weight loss and traditional cardio is for aerobic endurance
