FIT CHICKS Fierce in 8 DVD Box Set Review and Giveaway!

I have a confession to make:  Working out at home doesn’t come naturally for me.  Although I’ve done a TON of different fitness classes, and know a TON of different exercises when I’m at home my mind goes blank on what exercises to do, and how hard to push myself. I usually give up well before I’ve reached failure or fatigue.  I’m really not pushing myself as hard at home as I need to in order to see results.  This is why when I was asked by the FIT CHICKS to review their “Fierce in 8” DVD Box Set I screamed YES!

FIT CHICKS Fierce in 8 DVD Box Set

Last month I had to say goodbye to my strength coach – I just couldn’t afford his coaching anymore due to some other financial obligations .  I was scared that I would get “soft” and lose all of the progress I had made with him.  So over the past 4 weeks In addition to my Around the Bay Training, I’ve been following the FIT CHICKS Fierce in 8 program and I quickly learned that with the FIT CHICKS Fierce in 8 DVD Box Set I didn’t have to worry about getting soft!

 From the FIT CHICKS website:

Forget weight loss plateaus, boredom & no time! Using our signature high intensity intervals (HIIT) combined with kick butt cardio, strength training, core work, kick boxing, plyos, bootcamp & more, the “FIERCE IN 8” express series will keep you constantly challenged to transform your body….in less than 30 min / day.

I was a hot sweaty mess after my first workout!

The DVD Box Set has 4 DVD’s each with 2 different workouts on them for a total of 8 FIT CHICKS Signature workouts.  All of the workouts are high intensity interval training for maximum calorie burn.  The workouts are all about 20 to 30 min long (I got got so caught up in the videos that I didn’t time them) and give easy to follow advanced and beginner options.  I liked that the workouts kept my heart rate up while giving me the benefits of strength training – it was like a one, two punch to my metabolism without taking up too much of my day.

As a bonus the box set also comes with an 8 Day “Chick Approved” Meal Plan online. The meal plan has quite a few nutritious 5 ingredient recipes to try and an awesome guide to green smoothies.  My favourite recipe was the Sexy Mexy Power Bowl that I found to be really easy to make:

Sexy Mexy Power Bowl

I also made the Strawberry Vanilla Frozen Fluff recipe but threw in some banana for more flavour:

Strawberry Banana and Vanilla Frozen Fluff

My favourite FIT CHICKS Workout video was the Dirty 30 – Perfect Plyos.  It combines power & strength combos for max results.  At first I thought that the plyo moves were only for the lower body, but I was wrong, there’s also some great plyo moves for the upper body 3(like the plyo pushups).  I would say the plyo pushups was my favourite exercise from the DVD box set because it’s an exercise I would never have done on my own.  I did about the 3 then wanted to give up, but the DVD pushed me to crank out a few more.
According to my FitBit Aria Scale after following the program for only 4 weeks I was:
down 1.8 pounds and 1.1% body fat!
All in all I highly recommend the FIT CHICKS “Fierce in 8” DVD Box Set.  I found the instructions easy to follow and the exercises challenging enough to get results.  The meal plan is sensible and easy to follow.  I also liked that the workouts were short enough that I could crank them out first thing in the morning before the kids got up, or even in the evenings while the kids played.  On some days when I didn’t also run I was able to two of the workouts back to back.  Sometimes I find the narrative on workout videos annoying – not all of us want to get skinny or a bikini body.  (I’m thin but I’m far from having a perfect bikini body – I know that no amount of exercise I do will ever make my boobs magically grow and my hips to become better balanced with my lack of boobs).  The narrative in these videos focuses instead on getting strong and fierce and seeing results.  They leave the “results” vague so that you can imagine your own results.  I REALLY liked this – the FIT CHICKS fit well with MY goals of living active, eating healthy and enjoying life.  The best part?  The videos were FUN to do!

Happy and sweaty!

I haven’t done a lot of HIIT workouts but the few that I have done I have loved. This sounds like a great collection of workout DVD’s. I sometimes find that when I am at home it is easy to lose my workout motivation.
