#MotivateMe Monday: Eggs and Endurance Training

Happy Monday everyone!!

How was your week?  How did your fitness/training go?  This week the weather was pretty good for me, I’m really into my training for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon now and I even got in a longish solo run on Saturday.  I’m so excited to be representing Burnbrae Farms as an ambassador again at this race – eggs are a GREAT fit for endurance athletes… especially this one, I love eggs!

Eggs are perfect for recovering from my training  I might even go as far as calling them my superfood.  They have all the amino acids we require plus the protein in them is easily digestible. They’re also super convenient.  Yesterday I made this awesome cheese omelette with Burnbrae Farms Naturegg Omega Plus. It took only a few minutes and only had two ingredients, it was sooooooo yummy!

With only 4 weeks until race day, nutrition will have to be my secret weapon, bye bye cafeteria muffins and hello hard boiled eggs!

As I said (wrote?) earlier this past week’s training was pretty good and I’m happy with how things went (read, I’m sitting here in pain from last week’s training).  I love the pain from a good week’s training because it makes taper week all the more sweet 🙂

This is what my training looked like this week:

Monday: 4.83 mile run before work
Tuesday: rest
Wednesday: 4.41 mile run before my super awesome shopping & massage day with Juliette
Thursday: rest
Friday: Strength circuit in my basement before work with Juliette
Saturday: 6.56 mile run before hockey took over our day
Sunday: 90 min cycling + kettlebell interval workout

Hockey season for the girls has officially started which is definitely going to make fitting in training (and fitness) much more difficult.  I’m going to have to make the best out of the mornings and plan my workouts around everything.  I admit that I often have training envy.  Part of me wants more time to do my training, but the other side of me absolutely LOVES watching my girls enjoy and excel at their sports.  They have such a happy (sweaty) grin when they come of the ice, even miss Amby has gotten in on the skating/hockey action!

Learning to skate in full hockey gear.

Here’s this week’s training plan:

Monday: 4 mile run before work
Tuesday: rest
Wednesday: strength circuit workout
Thursday: 4 mile run before work
Friday: 40 min cycling + strength circuit workout
Saturday: 10 mile run, then coaching the last softball event of the season
Sunday: 90 min cycling + kettlebell interval workout

Only three weeks of training left, then it’s taper time!! I’m so excited to represent Burnbrae Farms at this year’s STWM!

Have a great week everyone!

Looks like you had a great week of training. This weather is most welcome for training. I’m sure it’s easier to do your long runs in cooler weather. Good luck on your training this week!

I love eggs too. My favourite post long run meal is my hubby’s scrambled eggs with a toasted bagel (annnd butter!). Way to go on fitting in the workouts with a very busy schedule. I can’t believe STWM is less than a month away now. We will HAVE to be sure to meet in person at some point for this race! Have a good week 🙂

Eggs are one of my favorite things for breakfast. My son started flag football last week and my daughter gymnastics, so we are kept pretty busy with that, so fun to see them love what they do , but wow does it take up a lot of time! Good thing i love seeing them happy so much! Have a great week!
