Cool, overcast and lazy… That’s what the weather here was like this weekend. To be honest it’s matched my mood perfectly. Earlier in the week we got notice that Sierra’s scheduled softball tournament this weekend got cancelled so we didn’t try to fill the time with anything. We discussed having friends over for a swim and a BBQ but decided that we just needed some time for ourselves instead. Sometimes you just need to do nothing to recharge the ol’ batteries.
I watched three movies on Netflix (man I love Netflix), and when I wasn’t watching movies or sleeping I was outside on my back deck, or in the pool – it was fantastic!
The movies I watched were:
During my deck time I took my laptop out, fixed up some outstanding issues on the ol’ blog and wrote out a few blog posts for this week: this post, a recipe for spinach and quinoa citrus salad, and another one scheduled for later this week 🙂 Because Monday is a holiday I may even manage to get another post written for this week and possibly put together the light box for taking pictures of salads that I’ve been wanting to make – I found some pretty cool tutorials on Pinterest for this 🙂

Through Just Janice Designs I’ve worked with quite a few bloggers on some common blogging issues so during my lazy day on Saturday I decided to start writing a series of “Better Your Blog” posts with tips and tricks for resolving those common issues. A few of the topics I thought I could share is how to set up a self-updating visual recipe index, how to tweak your blog design with CSS, how to change your blog URL/rebrand your blog, how to set up an RSS newsletter, must-have WordPress plugins etc. I’ll be sharing a new post in this series every other week – maybe on Wednesdays? I’m pretty excited about it because it’ll give me an opportunity to transfer the knowledge I’ve gained over the years and those are pretty fun posts to write.
Fitness is better with friends:
This week I had two great 10k runs before work with my running friends that felt FANTASTIC! Our group of morning mother runners has expanded from 3 to now 6! This is perfect because now there’s someone to run with no matter what day of the week it is. If you miss the Monday run because you stayed up too late, one of your kids kept you up through the night, or hubby had to go in to work early, then chances are someone is willing to get up and run on the next day with you. Unfortunately on Friday when I tried to run 10k again with my friends my right heel decided it didn’t want to run and hurt me with every foot strike. I gave up after a kilometre and walked back home. Oddly enough my foot felt better when I got home and took my shoe off so perhaps my shoe was just too tight? I “rested” my foot this weekend and thus far it feels fine so I’m looking forward to a good running week next week.
Here’s this week’s plan:
Monday: 8k morning run
Tuesday: Upper body weights at lunch at GoodLife Fitness
Wednesday: 8k morning run + BodyPump GoodLife Fitness + coaching Brooke’s softball game
Thur: Upper body weights at lunch at GoodLife Fitness
Friday: 8k morning run + lower body weights at lunch at GoodLife Fitness
Sunday: Run or Kettlebell workout
All in all I’ve had a much needed relaxing weekend and lots of time to get caught up on blogging. There was a while there when I considered giving blogging up but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. There’s something very therapeutic about writing and I really like how sharing my fitness plan here keeps me motivated – I just couldn’t give up blogging for those reasons., plus I’ve met so many great people through the blog!
