25 Days of Strength Week 3 #MotivateMe

Happy #MotivateMe Monday!  We are now in the final homestretch of 2014 with less than two weeks remaining!  Although we aren’t quite done with this year, I’m already starting to plan out next year, and of course, the next week of meals and training.

A weekly linkup on Mondays for you to share your weekly fitness plans and meal plans #MotivateMe http://www.fitnesscheerleader.com

#MotivateMe Monday is the day we share our fitness and meal plans for the week, along with our successes from the week before.  Planning and sharing your plan has been proven to help reach goals and keep us accountable.

To stay accountable through the month of December, I teamed up with Champion Canada to challenge you to participate in the 25 Days of Strength Challenge.  This is an advent calendar type challenge – every day is a new strength move.  Although there’s only three days left, you can still join in.  Today’s move is bicylces, tomorrow is bent over rows, and Christmas eve is dynamic planks.

Most of these are body weight exercises that you can do anywhere, Almost all of the exercise instructions can be found in this one great post on Greatist. I did this on purpose to keep things simple. You can either do three sets of as many of the day's exercise as you can, or build up the exercises into a kick butt circuit, ie: Day 1: Three sets of Tuck Jumps, Day 2: Three sets of Tuck Jumps and Pushups with Shoulder Taps, Day 3: Three sets of Tuck Jumps, Pushups with Shoulder Taps and Wall Sits. However you choose to approach this is up to you.

Here are my strength moves from last week:

25Days of Strength - Week 3: Bent over rows, clock lunges, flutter kicks, burpees, mountain climbers, bicyclesYou might notice that in many of the pictures from the 25 Days of Strength Challenge I’m wearing a purple long-sleeve pullover and running tights.  This super cute outfit was sent to me by Champion Canada to workout in as I challenged you to 25  24 strength moves.

DSC_0284The long-sleeved shirt is the Champion PerforMax® Women’s 1/4 Zip Pullover.  It’s a beautiful lilac color with a black accent around the neck. across the shoulder and down the sleeve:

The arm has a really cute reflective snowflake design on it, and the logo on the left chest is also reflective:

The tights are the Champion® PerforMax Women’s Therma Tight with Champion Vapor Technology.  They’re perfect for a cold winter run – very comfy and warm!  There’s a drawstring in the waist so they don’t fall down, and cute zippered pocket on the rear waist band to store things like your house key and a gel.

I really liked how well these fit and stretch during a run.

I’ve been wearing this outfit for every single one of my runs over the past three weeks and I can reassure you that the long-sleeve with a running jacket has kept me warm in temperatures as low as -8C.  I’ve run in sleet, snow and even the odd nice day and have felt wonderfully comfortable.

Last Week’s Fitness Plan (What I did)

Monday:  25 Days of Strength –  Russian twists
Tuesday:  8.56k run at 6 am plus 25 Days of Strength – Bent over rows
Wednesday:  25 Days of Strength – Clock lunges
Thursday: 9.26k run plus 25 Days of Strength – Flutter kicks
Friday: 25 Days of Strength – Burpees
Saturday: 15.79k run plus 25 Days of Strength – Mountain climbers
Sunday: 30 min on my indoor trainer plus 25 Days of Strength – Curtsy lunge

It was a great week with the added bonus of a fantastic almost 10 mile run on Saturday.  I was moping, all bored around the house when my hubby reminded me that I had a few hours until Sierra had to leave for hockey.  I then quickly threw my gear on and headed out for a run.  At first I thought I was only going to run 10k, but my legs felt so great that I just kept on going for another almost 6k.  I completed the 9.78 miles in 1:32 – I was so happy to finish that run with an average pace of 9:25/mile.

I LOVE the challenges where technically you only have to do 1 move to still be on track, because I swear sometimes just doing that 1 thing is enough to keep us going!!

I completely fall off the challenge if it’s too complicated to stay on track 🙂

Are you doing Chilly this year? I am thinking about making it my first race back!

Yay! The more the merrier 🙂 I’m not sure about Chilly – my best running friend wants me to do it, but I’m not sure hubby agrees. I think when I looked at the girls hockey schedule they had three games that morning.

I love that outfit! So cute! I have done zero strength training this month. Before kids, I lifted all the time and had to force myself to do cardio. Now I’m all cardio, all the time. I really need to find a balance.
