Mamavation Monday: Summer is Over and She Took My Motivation

While it may not be *officially* fall, it certainly looks and feels like it here:

We closed the pool this week.

The kids are back in school and summer is over here in Southern Ontario.  Unfortunately, when she left she also took my motivation. I’ve been feeling over-tired and lazy lately (yes, the I don’t wannas even infect me). – I’ve been walking the kids home from school and then turning the TV on for them…. Bad bad bad mommy.

That said, I did manage to do little bit of running  last week… I ran 8k on Tuesday,  5k on Friday, and 12.4K on Saturday.  While I’m proud that I got a fair amount of my training in, I’m ashamed to admit that the I don’t wannas prevented me from following through on the Gruntstyle 2 Weeek Challenge.

It’s time for me to create Fall goals, and a fitness plan.

My goals:

  1. To run a half marathon October 16th – I’ve kind of been training, but not quite hard enough.
  2. To play in a 5 week “Fall Ball” league on Sundays – I’m going to need to enlist the help of friends and family to watch the kids because hubby has to travel for work this month.
  3. To be more active  with the kids –  I need to pre-plan activities to do with the kids after school.
My  plan for this week:
  1. Continue following my half marathon training plan – run 8k on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Amber in the jogger on my way to pick up the girls from school.  Satuday mornings at 9 am have proved to be a good time to leave the family to go for my long runs – this week I’m aiming for 14k.
  2. Fall Ball starts this SUNDAY!  I’ve registered  with a friend  (because everything is easier with a friend) and our team’s first game is this Sunday at 2:30 pm. Hubby is home this weekend (not traveling), but may have to work, so I may have to bug my parents to babysit.
  3. I’ve created a daily outdoor activity plan with the kids for this week. They have chosen to play soccer after school at the park with their friends today, tomorrow we will stop to play on the climbing structure, Thursday we will play hockey on the driveway, and Friday we will go on a nature walk to collect leaves.
Summer may be over, and she may have taken my motivation last week, but I’m fighting back with  goals  and a  weekly fitness plan.

aw– sad that the pool is closed. it’s COLD here in Connecticut, the leaves are not happy, and I’m really wanting to just climb back in bed after the kids get in the bus. Instead, I suppose I’ll go to the gym.

@findfamilyfitness Yes! go to the gym as soon as the kids leave – get it over and done with and then feel PROUD of yourself for the rest of the day. You CAN do it!

The closed pool made me sad but I totally get it. It’s getting cold here in Michigan, too. I’ve had a massive case of the Don’t wannas lately. I need to kick them to the curb as I walk on by. Big hugs for you!

@LifeWithKatie You can do it Katie! Make a plan like me and show the “I-don’t-wannas” who’s boss!

Awesome goals!!! It was starting to get cool here in WA but suddenly we are back to the 80’s. No fun for a person who loved Fall. Good luck with your goals this week!!!

Here it doesn’t FEEL like summer is over – high 90’s still a regular occurance which has done wonders for my motivation… depleting it anyway… but my change it to re-focus on my running so that I can kick my own butt into gear to get ready for the half mary with Lori… It’s rough.

Maybe a bit selfish? I’m glad you shared that the i-don’t-wannas affect you too… that makes me feel like less of a wimp 🙂 BIG HUGS

@Momma_oz That’s precisely why I shared 🙂 Just because I’ve ran half’s before doesn’t mean I never need a kick in the pants to train. I’m human too.

Let me know if you want me to customize a program for you – or perhaps another approach to it is to do a couch to 10k – run 10k of the 1/2 then walk the other 11k? Either way I have faith you CAN complete the distance!
