Happy Monday everyone! This is my Mamavation Monday post for October 29, 2012.
I hope that you all have had a great week – the weather was awesome for the most part, but man, wasn’t the weekend yucky?
I’m really lucky that the sports centre where my kids have swimming, gymnastics, skating lessons and hockey has an indoor track around the top of one of the rinks:
So on Saturdays, while hubby is in parent & tot gymnastics class with Amber, and Sierra and Brooke are in their own gymnastics class, I have about 45 min to run around the track. I was so happy to have that option this week because I know that I would have come up with a million excuses not to run in the cold rain. Snow, wind, extreme heat – I don’t mind those. But rain. I.don’t.do.rain. I hate it!
Having the track available is great! (Now I just have to remember that it’s there on Tuesday or Friday nights after I’ve missed a run due to work etc…). No excuses right?
Speaking of excuses… I’m sick of hearing myself whine (not to be confused with wine), so I downloaded the GymPact app for my phone and gave it a go this week. I’m putting my money on the line with this app. If I miss a workout, I have to pay $5! Eeeek! How’s that for motivation?!
My first workout on Friday counted – I ran a 2.5km loop outside two times, but my workout at the indoor track on Saturday did not. The app said that the GPS was not turned on on my ismoothrun app and that my workout was recorded with the accelerometer instead. Next week I’ll have to “check-in” at the Sports Centre instead of trying to use the GPS on the track. Good thing the app gives you a few days until your first “official” pact. I’ll try checking in/recording every workout I do this coming week to try and figure out work-arounds for any bugs I encounter. Oh – and the good people at GymPact asked me to write about my experiences in two weeks from now on their blog – how cool is that?
Now time for accomplishments…
This week was a bit better than last week because I managed to workout 4 times:
Monday: Spinning class
Run too wet and rainy (I forgot all about the indoor track)
Thursday: Worked from home and worked right through my lunch!
Friday: Ran 5.5K
Saturday: Ran 5.5K
Next week my plan is pretty much the same as last week’s, only the weather is supposed to be horrendous, so I hope I don’t have to pay money to GymPact if Frankenstorm really does hit:
Monday: Spinning class
Tuesday: Run 5k
Thursday: Spinning class
Friday: Run 5k
Saturday: Ran 5k
Oh and I almost forgot! I also put my money where my mouth is by registering for the Chilly Half Marathon, again… I wonder if I can beat last year’s time?
