Motivation Monday: There is no Elevator to Success

Happy Monday everyone! How was your week? This past week my motto was:

I had a good laugh this morning when I woke up to find that the super cute 3rd baseman from the Toronto Blue Jays, Brett Lawrie had teamed up with SportChek to send me this personalised video tweet that was *almost* mocking my motto:

In all seriousness, my motto last week helped to remind me that good things come to those who work hard, and that anything worth having is worth working for (I ‘m sure that Brett also has had to take the stairs to get to where he is now). Throughout the week I kept reminding myself that, and was able to pull off one of the best training weeks that I’ve had in a long time, which is a good thing because my triathlon is now only FOUR short weeks away!

Monday: 50 min lunch spinning class
Tuesday: 6k lunch run (man it was HOT out!)
Wednesday: BodyPump class (in which I attempted to lift more weight for every single track than normal)
Thursday: 50 min lunch spinning class
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: 9k run, followed by 20 min of laps in the pool. (Man I really needed that time away from the kids yesterday!).

This coming week I ‘m planning for another great week of training, so that I can scale it back a bit the week after while the hubby is away. With a recovery week built-in I ‘m hoping to avoid injury and other overtraining signs – I ‘m THIS close to my race and I don’t want to get injured. Here’s this week’s training schedule:

Monday: 50 min lunch spinning class (DONE)
Tuesday: 8k lunch run
Wednesday: BodyPump class (in which I attempted to lift more weight for every single track than normal)
Thursday: 50 min lunch spinning class
Friday: 8k lunch run
Saturday: Rest ” or maybe I can sneak out to BodyPump?
Sunday: 10k run, followed by 30 min of laps in the pool.

And now time for some administrative, bloggy housekeeping ….

Wednesday marks the start of a new challenge that I have for you! I always find that I ‘m far more motivated to BE active when I ‘m writing on a regular basis here on the ol’ blog. Being active and writing about being active seems to create a nice little spiral ” be active, write, be more active, have more to write about … So for all of you healthy living/fitness bloggers out there I have a writing challenge for August ” I’ve prepared 31 writing prompts to help motivate you to write, which I hope will also motivate you to stay active during these hot, lazy days of summer. Here’s what you do:
