Motivation Monday: November 8, 2010

This is my Mamavation post for Monday, November 8, 2010.

Hey everyone!

Mamavation Monday

Mamavation Monday

How was your week last week? Did your drink your water? Get your beauty sleep? And eat your 7-8 servings of fruits and veggies? (Remember: fruit and veggies are chock full of fiber!).

As you know, this week has been a whirlwind for our family. It started out pretty normal – me complaining that I can’t wait to get this pregnancy over with so I can run again, furiously nesting, cleaning and stocking the house with groceries and crockpot meals for us to heat up later, and ending with me relying on a stroller for support as I slowly walked the 1km around our block with a 7lb infant in the stroller!

I’m now slowly joining you in my journey back to a fit, healthy lifestyle! I started pretty much right away with the food in the hospital:

A balanced meal courtesy of OTMH

There`s a lot to be learned about portion sizes, variety and nutrition at the hospital because as bland as the food is, it`s all carefully planned out for us to meet all of our nutritional requirements.

So that’s what I’ve been trying to do – smaller portions, & lots of variety. Because I’m recovering I haven’t restricted calories, or snacks – just choosing nutritious snacks instead. Oh & lots of water! I am so thirsty!!!

I haven’t really discussed this in my posts since finding out I was pregnant in early March. Weight gain was not really something I thought much of this pregnancy – I focussed on being healthy, happy and being active. But now that my little bambino is being shared by my family, I can now discuss weight…

I started Mamavation in December 2009 – I was 136lbs, and my goal was to get to my wedding/pre-first pregnancy weight of 120lbs. I started training for a half marathon, and was 126lbs on the day we held a stick with a little “+” sign on it. At my last pre-natal appointment (the same day Amber was born) I was 150lbs – a very healthy 24lb gain. Today I stepped on the wii fit to weigh myself, find out my BMI, then play some of the balance games with my oldest daughter. My results were awesome! BUT I’m not going to tell you what they were – you have to guess in the comments below, and I’ll tell you at the end of Mamavation TV tonight (if Amber lets me come). Tee hee – this should be fun!!

What’s your guess? How much did I lose this week?

Congrats to this week’s Sista of the Week: @onlylaila from the blog “Mama locs – My Journey Through Motherhood & Life“. You can read her Mamavation post for this week called: Mamavation Monday – Still Standing.

This week ‘s blogging carnival is sponsored by Earth Footwear. (I personally am craving a pair of the Women’s Acclaim Boot – they are freaking sexy!). The winner of the blogging carnival gets a pair of Earth Footwear. Just mention Earth Footwear in your post and link back to their site.??Link up to the Mamavation Blogging Carnival here.

Have a great week everyone!!

I’m so glad I came across this site to connect with you. I feel like I’m reading my own story. Although I’m still in the phase of “when will this pregnancy be over so I can start getting back to my fit self” stage. 😉

My guess is that you are back down to 138. I’m just going by what I remember from my experience with my daughter and dropping weight after. Funnily enough, we had about the same weight going on with pregnancy too. 😉

I have no IDEA because I don’t know how much weight one can drop when you have a “healthy” pregnancy… I gained well over 50 lbs with each of my boys but after the birth dropped about 15-20 lbs… I’m going to guess you were similar?!? Can’t wait to find out!

I’m gonna guess down 18 lbs. I also suspect you will be at pre-preggo weight by Dec 1 and pre-pre-pre-preggo weight by February.

I am guessing you lost at least 15lbs…but the excitement you have in this post makes it seems like more. Good for you at starting healthy right from the hospital.

LOL Janice I can’t tell if you are super healthy fit or OCD talking about weight loss less than a week after having a baby. I will go with super healthy fit since this is #3 and you are a rock star in all you do. Glad to read tweets this weeks that all was going well with AJ.
