Motivation Monday: November 15, 2010

This is my Mamavation post for Monday, November 15, 2010.

Hey everyone!

Mamavation Monday

Mamavation Monday

How was your week last week? Did your drink your water? Get your beauty sleep? And eat your 7-8 servings of fruits and veggies? (Remember: fruit and veggies are chock full of fiber!).

I have been drinking water like it’s going out of style!  On November 4th, the day we brought Amber home, hubby stopped off at the Water Depot and filled our two 18L water bottles up.  That’s 36L of water… Guess what?  They’re EMPTY!!  Now I have had some help – we’ve had visitors here almost every day, but the majority of it was drank by me – I’m going to guess that I now drink 2L/day!

My diet (and I mean that in the food that I eat every day kind of way, not the I’m trying to lose weight kind of way), has been improving – my last week of pregnancy I was so uncomfy that I kept turning to my comfort foods – muffins, cookies, chocolate, cereal (all sweet things).  Now that I can *see* who I’m nourishing, I’m more motivated to eat my fruits & veggies.  I’ve stocked up the whole fridge with great food!

Exercise… I kind of got in trouble from my midwife on Tuesday & on Friday… You see, I walk to my oldest daughter’s school to pick her up each day, which is close to 3k round trip.  I’m supposed to be resting – the thing is, for me that IS resting.  I know I should listen, but I really need that walk and the fresh air for my brain/mood.  Besides, next week they’re calling for some snow here, so my walking days will very soon be limited by the weather.

Weight… I brought this up last week ’cause I was totally shocked at my post-natal weight.  You see, after my last two pregnancies I came home and only weighed 10lbs less than before giving birth.  This time, not only did I gain a more healthy amount of weight, but I came home weighing 15lbs less!  I now weigh less than I did last Christmas 😯  I won’t be weighing myself again until 6 weeks post-partum, because in these early stages my job is to eat lots to make all of Amber’s milkies.

Amber… is doing AH-MAZING!  She`s growing like a weed and no longer has jaundice 🙂

Congrats to this week’s Sista of the Week: Scarlet Black is  @MMScarlett of  Manical Matron!  Congrats Scarlett on over 100 days of being SMOKE-FREE!

Have a great week everyone!!

That’s awesome! I’m glad Amber is growing and you’re concentrating on eating what you need to in order to provide for her, what she needs. It sounds like your mood is very good too, a very positive sign. So glad to see how well you’re doing!

Yes, your job now is to nourish your body so it can provide nourishment for Amber. Eat well, drink your water and REST! And enjoy all those baby snuggles!

OMG i remember how thirsty i was in the first weeks of my son’s life with the nursing! I finally said to my husband, just get me water every time I nurse. Ha ha. Poor fellow.

Good thing you’re listening to your body. Does your midwife know what you USUALLY do? 🙂 But like Kia said, I guess you should listen. What is their reasoning for you to stay inside?

    Glad Amber is well!! XO

im glad you got around to commenting adn it wasn’t to any person in general just missed seeing comments last week thats all.

thats so awesome on your water great job, also its funny with your exercise i guess for someone in your shape a walk would be less kinda like only walking a mile is easy for me yet doing 3 or more is more of a workout.

Congratulations!! I am about 7 months ahead of you, and I am still exclusively nursing. It has helped me to stay focused on being healthy rather than severely restricting my calories.

Enjoy your baby…and keep up all that healthy eating!

Oh my gosh I have not forgotten how thirsty I was those first few weeks after my kids were born. Holy moley did I drink a ton of water.

And I’m laughing at how taking it easy for you isn’t the same as taking it easy for your midwife! I was the same way after my son. I was so used to walking every day while pregnant that I CRAVED movement almost as soon as I got home from the hospital.

    Anyway. Congratulations. Enjoy the bliss.
