Motivation Monday: Nobody Cares How Good Your Excuses Are

Happy Monday folks! Are you ready to take on another week?

As I had anticipated, last week wasn’t a stellar training week, but I’m not gonna bore ya with my excuses, yanno why?

Nobody Cares How Good Your Excuses Are

So let’s focus on the positive, on what I DID accomplish, and not what I DIDN’T:

  • I ran a combined total of 20k for the week,
  • I went to a spinning class,
  • a core strength class,
  • and a BodyPump class.

I also discovered during my core class that there are ab exercises that I can do now that I’ve never been able to do in my entire life:

My hard work is finally paying off! I’m so excited!!

So yeah, although my core is getting stronger (thank you core strength class & BodyPump), I’ve noticed lately that I’ve been floundering around with my fitness like a fish out of water, making excuses for missed workouts that no one really cares about and I’ve finally figured out why:

I DON’T HAVE A GOAL.

While being active since my last race has been good for my overall health and core strength, it hasn’t been doing much for my self-esteem, happiness etc.

I’M HAPPIEST WHEN I’M WORKING TOWARDS A GOAL.

So I stopped by the bookstore today and decided to pick up some inspiration for what I’m pretty sure is my next goal:

I’m hoping to make a big announcement about this a little later on in the week right here on my blog…. (This would be called foreshadowing).

So now onto my plan for this week… no more excuses – I’m gonna OWN IT!!!

  • Monday: Spinning class followed by core strength class
  • Tuesday: 5k easy run
  • Wednesday: BodyPump – release 81 (I tried it for the first time last week – man was it ever hard!)
  • Thursday: 5k east run
  • Friday: Rest
  • Saturday: run – 15k?
  • Sunday: BodyPump

Have a great week everyone!!

I’ve had lots of excuses…though I do workout nearly every day, I’ve been doing it halfassed, not full effort…
Funny you talking about Tri…I’m considering a Dualathon (I hate swimming, so tri’s are out for me!)
    Congrats on your core!!!
    Here’s to a great week.

That’s one heck of a busy healthy week you have set up there, Janice! And I agree with your core message. No one really cares what our excuses are, especially our body!!

You may just be completely insane! 3 kids and a triathlon…I’ve recently discovered that I can now do push-ups without dying and still have enough juice in the tank to sprint the last km of an 11 km run.

It’s funny because I like the idea of “no excuses”, but I don’t like tthe totality of it. Sometimes there are very good excuses! I’d love to go work out today, but I had gum surgery yesterday and I’m supposed to rest (completely for the first 48 hours and then only light stuff for a bit). I think that’s a valid excuse! 😉

That’s not an excuse – that’s following directions. I hope you have a speedy recovery!
