Mamavation Monday

How was your week last week? Did your drink your water? Get your beauty sleep? And eat your 7-8 servings of fruits and veggies? (Remember: fruit and veggies are chock full of fiber!).  AND did you get your sweat on for AT LEAST 30min/day?

My week was great – I really moved and grooved because I’ve really gotten into a good routine each day, and the kids have come to expect an hour each morning of chasing mommy & exercising with her.  We’re really having fun together.  Sure I would love to get up earlier and run before everyone is up, but I find it so hard to run on an empty stomach.  My blood sugar feels so low each morning and I feel dehydrated. Plus I’m getting up twice a night to nurse the bambino…

Here’s a summary of what I accomplished:
Monday: Did Nike Training Club Workout (45 min)
Tuesday: Mommy/Baby Bootcamp Class
Wednesday: Did Nike Training Club Workout (45 min)
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Went in to work and worked out with Trainers On Site (60 min)
Saturday: Ran 5K (32 min)
Sunday: 10 min bootcamp workout, then 60 min sledding with my oldest daughter

It feels awesome to be so ACTIVE!  I don’t feel anywhere as CLOUDY in my brain as I used to.  Some days I don’t feel like working out, but then I remind myself that it’s not about the scale.  It’s about LONGEVITY. Living life like it’s a marathon, not a track meet.  Taking the time now to prepare for my future.  Maintaining my strength, balance, range of motion.. etc.  I look at baby Amber and picture myself holding her babies.  I had Amber at 35 – if she waits that long to have kids I’ll be 70, so I really need to invest in myself NOW so I can enjoy my grandkids later.

The biggest bonus to this way of thinking is that I’m healthy now.  My clothes fit well and I have the energy to keep up with my princesses.  My baby weight has fallen off too.  I haven’t been constantly worrying about how many calories everything has and whether I should eat it. Instead I’m asking myself – what fuel is this giving me? What vitamins and minerals are in this?  It’s taken me a long time to get here and it feels great to be in this mindset.

This week’s blogging prompt is:  What are your strategies to fit everything into your busy life?   Any areas you need to work on?

I fit everything in by making it part of my regular routine.  I also plan ahead.  Though I must admit I could be better at making sure I have the actual groceries I need for the food I planned on cooking in the house.  I found myself rushing to the grocery store at 7 am on Thursday morning to get food for my daughter’s lunch.  I HATE dragging three kids grocery shopping, and the crowds on the weekends are no better.

    I am so glad you are in a nuturing vs. obsessive mindset. You seem really relaxed and filled with gratitude as you play/workout. I love this example you are setting for others. It seems like a fulfilled life. Many blessings mama.

    You are an inspiring example of being active. I strive to reach that place where I look at food solely as fuel and not a plate full of calories. I’m making progress there. Have a great week.

    Wow, I never thought about what fuel food gave me. It was all about calories, calories, calories. Thank you for the new perspective!

    I ran 6.5 miles yesterday 🙂 I’m getting back in the saddle after a tough winter. So looking forward to it!

    And… wait, decrease my caffeine? Crap! I love my coffee! LOL

    Looking at what we have achieved can indeed be motivating and it will drive us to keep on doing what we are ought to do. Thanks for the idea Janice. I always thought Mondays are depressing. I think I need to frequently do your motivation strategy. 🙂
