Mamavation

Motivation Monday: June 7, 2010

This is my Mamavation post for Monday, June 7, 2010. (Wow! It`s been a long, long, long time since I posted a Mamavation Monday post – too long to be honest!)

After injuring my feet (bad case of plantar fasciitis) I really fell off the wagon. My eating was great – I had developed some great habits over the past 5-6 months – but my exercise was severely lacking. You see I LOVE running, preggo or not, I love it! So a mild depression overtook me and I was a very nasty woman to be around – gah! I feel SO SO SO sorry for my family! I tried to get up to go swimming every morning before work. I even bought a new swim suit and goggles and kept my back pack packed… But ya know what? When you’re pregnant a warm bed and wonderful cuddles with a 2 and 4 year old are far more appealing! Sigh!

But guess what? One late night twitter session last week with Kia (aka @bodhibear), turned into the inspiration I needed! She inspired me to get up outta bed and be active! I tried to get up to swim because I promised her I would, but instead I went to the basement to use the Wii Fit to find out how much damage my inactivity had done. I was shocked! I had only gained 1 lb!! Being inspired by that, and seeing a pile of my laundry on the couch which included fresh clean workout clothes, I popped in my 30 day Shred and did Level 1. My feet didn’t hurt – woot! The next day I worked out with my personal trainer (Rob from Trainers On Site who does a bootcamp style fitness class for my co-workers and I). After this it snowballed… I spent hours gardening on the weekend, I took the kids to a children’s water festival and a rib festival (lots of walking) and I tried running again!

This past week I did Week 1 of the Couch to 5K program, power walked with my co-workers and worked out with Rob! Woot! I finally posted some mileage on Daily Mile – Yay!

I felt fantastic this week and got in more than 30 minutes of exercise each day for my Choose You Healthy Challenge (there’s still time to enter if you’re looking for some extra motivation!).

Oh yeah – I almost forgot! I took belly pics of myself, which I never did with either of my two previous pregnancies because I was far too embarrassed by my weight gain. Check it out ladies – here’s me at 17 weeks. 23 weeks (or less) to go and if I gain a lb/week as is recommended I’ll gain 26 lbs.

17 weeks

Next week I have a busy week planned – I’ll continue the Couch to 5K program, workout with Rob, and I’m spending a night with a friend and going to the New Kids on the Block concert at Casino Rama in Orillia, ON (bet you didn’t know I was a total blockhead, did ya?).

Have a great week everyone! Stay active, drink plenty of water and eat your 7-8 servings of fruits and veggies!

PS – Congrats to Morgan (aka @mommymomo) on being the Mamavation Sista of the Week!

PPS – EA SPORTS Active is sponsoring this week’s Mamavation blogging carnival and giving away a copy of “More Workouts.” To enter – Read this post and follow the instructions provided. I’d love a copy for my 1 year maternity leave (yes – don’t hate me because I’m Canadian). Getting out of the house to exercise will be far more difficult when I’m alone with 3 kids – so the EA Active “More Workouts” will be a nice option for in-home exercise (especially since it’ll be the dead of a Canadian winter when I get the approval to return to exercise).

I recently went to a fitness bootcamp and was challenged and amazed at how hard we pushed each and every other. I really enjoyed myself! I lost 10 pounds and a number of inches. I sense incredibly energetic and strong! It has surely increased my confidence level. I like to go shopping now lol one thing I wasn’t enjoying many months ago. I sense happy and excited much more frequently than not. Exercising truly does uplift your spirits!
