Motivation Monday: Finding My Bliss

Warning: This is a LONG post!

Hey everyone! How are you? How was your week? I hope it was AWESOME! This is my Mamavation Monday post for October 22, 2012.

This past week was ridiculously busy for me ” THREE amazing things happened in my life that I can’t wait to tell you about:

~ Amazing Thing #1 ~

Last week I joined the committee for the Ontario Women’s Triathlon!

The committee noticed my tweets, posts and status updates about the race and approached me to join them. After evaluating their needs and comparing them to my skill-set and availability, I happily said yes! Which means for the next year I ‘ll be using my social media and web design skills to help grow the triathlon, the training clinics and help to raise money for Girls Inc. of Halton. Our goal is to go from 344 race participants to 500 (or more) so that we can raise even more money for our partner charity, Girls Inc. (a fantastic charity that offers support and boosts the confidence of at-risk girls in my community). As a mom of three daughters, let me tell you that their partner charity is a cause very near and dear to my heart). As well, the Ontario Women’s Triathlon was the first women’s only triathlon in Canada, and is based in my hometown of Milton, Ontario! I LOVE the motto for the triathlon because of how well it lines up with my values, my overall message and who I am:

A Celebration of Women in Sport ~ with the Beginner at Heart.

This is definitely a match made in heaven, and as I type this my eyes are welling up in tears with how excited I am about this opportunity to be involved with the committee. Our first meeting is tomorrow and I’m bubbling up with a MILLION ideas from the Blissdom Canada Conference that I attended this past weekend. Which brings me to my next big amazing thing…

~ Amazing Thing #2 ~

As I wrote on Friday, I attended my FIRST ever blogging/social media conference right here in Toronto: Blissdom Canada!

I had an absolute blast with my room mates Rae of, and Erin of I also greatly enjoyed connecting with amazing influencers, both men and women. I got to discuss traffic building tips with Janice Croze of, food photography with Gayla Trail from and how to go from sponsorships to a spokesperson with Maureen Dennis of

I also got to meet many awesome bloggers and some fellow Fitfluential Ambassadors, including Morgan of Life After Bagels (she did a guest post here for me 18 months ago while I was away in Hawaii):

(This has special meaning to me because Morgan and I have been trying to meet for close to two years, and have even attended some of the same races/events yet have never been able to actually meet face-to-face). She’s just as wonderful and sweet IRL as she is on her blog.

All in all, the conference was amazing and if you ever get the chance to go, then you should totally do it!

~ Amazing Thing #3 ~

My third amazing thing is that I moved over the blog of Regina ( from to a self-hosted blog! WordPress has revised their terms and conditions regarding advertisingsuch that you cannot post anything using their services that you were compensated for. Yep – no sponsored posts, no third party advertising and not even product reviews if you’ve received product as compensation:

In addition to AdSense-type ads, please do not use the following services on your blog:

  • Sponsored or paid posts, including PayPerPost, ReviewMe, and Smorty.
  • Affiliate or referral links to the following domains: usercash, clickbank, clickhop, cashrocks, payingcash.
  • Clicktrackers and any promotions of the Ã…”I made a million on the internet and so can you type of advertising (i.e. MLM, network marketing, cash gifting, etc.).
  • Paid or sponsored post content is also prohibited.

Isn’t that crazy?!

Of course this is great for me, because this week I’ll be moving over another Canadian fitness blogger, Jenny of to her own self-hosted blog as well.
(Shameless self promotion warning: I can move you blog too! If you use my BlueHost affiliate link: I’ll move you for FREE and if you chose any other host I’ll move you for $65)

OK, so last week I wrote all about getting my mojo back, and I have to admit that I really really tried to meet my goals, but I was just too busy! Ok busy is an excuse: I chose to do other things instead of working out. I went shopping for a Halloween costume, got my nails done etc. Here are last week’s accomplishments:

Monday: Spinning
Friday: 8k run at lunch
Saturday: 5k run at Blissdom

And next week’s training plan:

Monday: Spinning
Tuesday: 8k run
Wednesday: BodyPump
Thursday: Spinning
Friday: 8k run at lunch
Saturday: 5k run while the kids are in gymnastics
Sunday: Rest/Recover

Whew! Still with me? I’m starting something new – Every Monday, if you publish a blog post summarizing your training accomplishments from the week before, you can link it up here:

Let’s all support each other!!

Have a great week everyone and remember – You’re only one workout away from a good mood!
