Mamavation Monday: Learning & Adjusting

Hi everyone!

How are you?  Last week I wrote about how I was planning on fitting fitness in with the new schedule now that the kids are back to school… My BIG plan was to get up EVERY DAY before the kids wake up – LOL – what was I thinking?

I was exhausted last week – I totally underestimated how tired I would be.  I didn’t manage to get up early even once, but I did manage to follow along everyday with the @guntstyle workouts (Here’s more infomation if you’d like to try the 2 week Gruntstyle Challenge) and convinced Brooke to ride her bike while I ran pushing Amber once.  I also managed to go on a 9K trail run while I was up at my friend’s cottage for the weekend.  It was a fantastic run – he’s running the same half-marathon as me in a month form now and we run about the same pace. Running with friends is so much fun!

All in all my week was fantastic.  The cottage visit was very active (but what else would you expect when you get 5 Phys. Ed majors together with their kids?)

Me at the cottage - we'd just arrived & the kids hadn't worn me out... yet.

We went swimming....

We went tubing....

We went canoeing...

I went on a 9k trail run...

We watched the sunset...

And finally we relaxed around the campfire while the kids played flashlight tag in the forest.

This coming week…. I’ve come to realize that I’m not really a morning person.  I can do it 1 or 2 times in a week – but not everyday.  I’ve learned and I’m adjusting… So here’s my plan:

Monday – recover from the weekend – do the Paralyzed Gruntstyle workout
Tuesday – Run 8k before the family gets up – do the Puke Me Please Gruntstyle workout
Wednesday – Do the Sweat Monster Guntstyle workout
Thursday – Run 8k before the family gets up – do the Sore Winner Gruntstyle workout
Friday – Run 8k while Brooke starts her first full day of kindergarten
Saturday – AM – Sweat Monster PM – Puke Me Please
Sunday – 12k run

I also have come to realize I need new running shoes. Like NEED new shoes BADLY! I bought these ones in December in anticipation of returning to running after having Amber – these shoes have served me very well, but according to Daily Mile these shoes have over 350km on them – not including the hours of mommy/baby boot camp that I went to this past fall, walking to pick up the kids from school and BodyPump class.
