Motivation Monday: Living My Priorities

Happy Monday everyone!!

Last week Thursday I wrote about how my blog keeps me accountable, and then early this morning Mizfit reminded me that hadn’t posted in a few days, so she was curious about how I’ve been doing. You know, nudge nudge, are you still working out? I love that about the health & fitness blogging community – everyone helps each other out with words of encouragement and motivation.

So how have I been?

In the words of Carla,This week I’ve been busy living my priorities. Family and fitness first – blogging, social media etc., second. I’ve been working out, but I havent had enough time to write about it because I’ve been having so much fun with the family.

Monday – Spinning class at lunch with my friend, then cheered on Brooke at her soccer game after dinner.
Tuesday – Lunch time run (RUNch). Unfortunately I haven’t been able to convince anyone else at work to run with me 🙁
Wednesday – picked up the chairs from my new-to-me dining set at lunch, then cheered for Sierra at her soccer game after dinner
Thursday – date day with the hubby! We both took a vacation day and spent the day riding the roller coasters at Canada’s Wonderland together (yes – we even went on the new Leviathan Roller Coaster). So fun!!
Friday – picked up the table from my new-to-me dining set at lunch, then went swimming with the kids in the pool after dinner, then cleaned the entire house after the kids went to bed.

Saturday – Saturday marked the three year anniversary of Mamavation, so we all celebrated together as a virtual community by walking or running 5k in our own local communities. I had planned on running it with the kids (Sierra and Brooke on their bikes, and with Amber in the jogging stroller), but Brooke decided she wanted to stay home and help hubby put up the new curtains in her room.

We had a great time and went slow for lots of water breaks:

We also stopped at the park to practise our chin ups – I’m getting very very close – so close….

Sunday – I took Amber for a 5k run to celebrate Canada Day:

Then swam laps in the pool in the afternoon. Then in the evening I took the kids to the park… I FINALLY was able to do a chin up!

And my competitive spirit is very strong in my oldest daughter, who had to show me the proper way to do a chin up:

I’ll have to start practising BOTH ways!!

I guess what I’m really trying to say here is that although my blog keeps me accountable, I don’t always have the time to write here, which is quite fine by me ’cause it generally means I’ve been busy having a good time 🙂

    WOW! I don’t know how you are able to stay so active! I admire you! Right now I feel like an infant in the fitness community… trying to work staying active into my daily routine. Keep it up girl! You are an inspiration to us all!

      Thanks Kat! I try to plan my workouts out for the week as part of an overall training plan (at this point I’m training for a sprint triathlon in September). I find that for me personally, training for events is more motivating than exercising to try and achieve an aesthetic ideal that my body is likely not even capable of achieving. I strongly believe in continuous self-improvement: more strength, speed, power, endurance etc.

    I LOVE that you got to have a date day with your hubby. Every once in a while (read: once a year) my husband and I take off from work to just be together, but it’s just not enough!

      Funny you should say that – I think that was our first kid-free date day since fall 2008! We really should make time for each other a bigger priority.

    I love Runch!!!!! I used to do that when I worked. Wish I would have thought of that! Lol!!!
    I can’t do chin ups either. Awesome that you are able to!
