Hey guys! ;How are you?
I feel like this week I’ve been bobbing along in the water, trying to keep the current from pulling me under:
It was a crazy busy week. Work is busy, home life is busy, my “other job” is busy and the kids… They’re super busy too!
This weekend, my oldest daughter played in a hockey tournament. ;In addition to our usual gymnastics, trampoline and skating lessons, she played in four hockey games. They won their first two games, tied their third game, and lost in the final game – earning them a silver medal!
She was ecstatic! ;It was her first tournament ever, and she had no idea that if they did well she could earn a medal. ;The look on her face when they told them to line up for the awards was priceless. I’m so proud of that kid!
As for me? ;Well, it was a pretty good week for me too. ;My training is going well – I managed to squeeze in 5 workouts, which is quite a bit considering how hit and miss I’ve been lately. ;It feels really good to be back into the swing of things, and I’m sure being active helps me with managing the stress of running this busy house while working.
This week my motto is to “Just keep swimming” ala Dori from Finding Nemo:
I can really see how it’s easy to say, “Hey life is busy, I don’t have time to workout“. But I’m finding that working out helps me to COPE with being so busy.
And it also helps me to cope with the unexpected things in life.
Yanno, like when your adorable 5 year old decides they need a haircut while you’re out running and daddy is parenting. ;So she decides that since daddy can’t take the whole gang to the store just for her to get her hair cut, she does it herself:
Oh Brookie! ;I almost turned around to go run some more when I came home to that. Ugh!
This week my plan is pretty much the same as last week’s:
Monday: ;Spinning class
Tuesday: ;Run 5k
Friday: ;Run 5k
Saturday: ;Run 5k
Sunday: ;Long 10k run
This coming week will be nice because I have Friday off of work to spend home with the girls. Perhaps we’ll do some crafts, clean the house, go grocery shopping and for a ride/run together (they ride their bikes, I run).
Have a great week & keep on swimming!
PS – Have you hugged a runner yet today? Today is G.O.H.A.R.D. (Globally Organized Hug a Runner Day).
Here are 4 Ways To Participate On November 20th:
1. Wear running shoes all day long. If possible, wear an old race bib. If you see someone wearing these items, run up and give them a hug!
2. Organize a group hug with your training group. (Don’t forget the pics!)
3. Send every runner you know a virtual hug by enclosing their names in double brackets like this ((Anna and Kim)).
4. Commit random acts of hugging.
