If We Were Having Coffee… November 2017 Edition

If we were having coffee

Wow, would you look at that, it’s November already!! The months are flying by! Now that we’re full on into hockey season it’s I’m loving my booties, scarves, long sweaters and… COFFEE!!  Because today is the first Saturday of the month it means it’s time again to link up with my friends Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date and to share with you the latest things happening in my life.

If we were having coffee…

I would tell you that I’m continuing to run with consistency and I feel like myself again.  I feel happier than I have in a few years.  It’s starting to get colder so I need to figure out how to remember that this is what keeps me happy.  I’ll have to force myself to get out there.  My plan to run 3 times a week, then four times a week, now five times a week has been really good for my mental health. I’m starting to put more emphasis on distance and pace along with getting out there 4-5 times a week.  I’m starting to see some MAJOR improvements!Happy Meme

If we were having coffee…

I would tell you that we’re full swing into the girls’ hockey seasons now.  I used to *hate* hockey and being in the arenas but now that I understand hockey, what each player is supposed to be doing etc, it doesn’t seem so bad.  I say that now but I’m sure my tune will change in a few months when all I’ve done is hang out in arenas.  My youngest daughter spends a lot of time with me hanging out while her sisters are on the ice so we’ve been exploring other things to do near their arenas, or even at their arenas.  One weekend we went on a long hike, and lately we’ve been going to the library to do her home reading.  Unfortunately hockey season has turned the house into a complete disaster because I’m the ONLY one who does ANY cleaning around here and I haven’t been home!

If we were having coffee…

I would tell you that this weekend I’m hanging out in Niagara Falls with my oldest and youngest for hockey.  Fitting in workouts when I’m away with two kids is hard! Thank goodness for body weight exercises and my TRX.  Tomorrow I want to sneak in this EMOM Kettlebell Workout.

If we were having coffee…

I would tell you that I’m super happy with the somewhat cooler fall weather.  Running has felt generally easier, though some days it has been cold and rainy 🙁  November rain has already hit (and I’ve had that song stuck in my head for a few days.   I’ve built up a lot of endurance by running consistently so I can now run 5 miles pretty much non-stop and my paces are improving. Last month was a great month of running (125 km) and I’m hoping to run even more this month.

(I’m super sad that there are no more Ragnar races in my future until late next year 🙁 )

If we were having coffee…

I would tell you that I’m extra excited for my Punta Cana trip for my University Roommate’s wedding because I just got ANOTHER wedding invitation in the mail… This one is for my best friend since kindergarten’s wedding, and it’s also in Punta Cana! What are the odds of that?!?  Since I’ve already booked my trip I’ll miss my childhood bestie’s ceremony, but will be arriving there in time to spend two evenings and a day with her on the beach.  The weddings aren’t until the end of April, so there’s still lots of time, but I’m now even more motivated to lose some body fat before my trip – bring on all the HIIT training!!

I feel so much better now that I have been able to increase my running miles again. It does wonders for me mentally too. I’ve never been to Niagara falls can you believe it? Thanks for joining us for the coffee date today

Yay April Punta Cana weddings! That’s great that you’ll at least get to see both of your friends, even if you have to miss one of the ceremonies. Several years ago, my college roommate and my childhood best friend decided to get married on the same day, and I had very similar “What are the chances?!” feelings about that! Fortunately they were only an hour away from each other, so I went to one ceremony and the other reception, but it did still feel crazy — so many days in the year when you could get married, and they both had to pick the exact same one!

Oh wow 😮 that would be tough, at least you only had to buy one dress for both weddings 🤣

I hope you had fun in Niagara Falls! I haven’t been there since I was 11 and would love to visit again at some point!

I’ve never been to Punta Cana, but I hear it’s gorgeous! I’m glad you get to spend osme time with your childhood best friend there even if you can’t make it to the ceremony itself!!

Yes, you must come! Niagara Falls has changed a lot, it’s starting to become more like a Las Vegas North, with the casinos, indoor water parks, the attractions like the haunted houses, theme parks, mini golf, etc.
