February is the Month of SELF Love

Yay! It’s February – the month of love 😉 When you read that, what pops into your mind? images of chocolate hearts? Champagne? Lingerie? Over-priced cards and dinners out?

Sure all of those things are what February and Valentine’s day can be about, but let me take a minute to propose to you a new idea:

Let’s make February the month of SELF love.

When I read through twitter and even the Mamavation Monday posts I see consistent themes:

  • guilt
  • self-loathing
  • exercise as punishment for eating a cookie
  • shame
  • lack of confidence

I’m not seeing very much self-love.

So this month, I’d like you to stop and think about your internal, and even external dialogue. I want you to try and make this the month of SELF love.

To start the month off I want you to either write on your blog, or share in the comments, one thing you love about yourself.

Come on – you can do it! I’ll even go first – I love myself because….

I have a strong healthy body that has given me THREE beautiful daughters. My stretch marks and muffin-top are there to tell everyone that I’m strong and have endured over 2 years of pregnancy!

Our first and last love is - - SELF love

Before you can love others, you need to unconditionally love and accept yourself. By accepting yourself, your simple presence can make others happy. Making others happy is the greatest way to show your friends, family and even complete strangers that you love them.

Because this month is the month of SELF love, I’m going to kick start it with a series of guest posts from several wonderful, confident women who will share with you how they’ve journeyed from self-loathing to self-love. I’ll start off the series tomorrow with m story. We will share with you how we show ourselves love everyday

    Saw your post on Twitter and thought it was rather fitting for me. I have just begun my journey towards self-love and the results have been amazing. Less strife at home, easier to maintain my calm with the kiddos, more exercise, healthier meals, and much much more. It’s been really eye opening for me and I can’t wait to delve deeper. I wrote my first post this week and was surprised how little feedback I got from it. Oh well, it’s about me loving me!! not others, right 🙂

    Indeed, you are right about loving oneself. We really need to love ourself for us to gain confidence. I do love myself because this who I am and whoever are true to me will surely accept and love me.
