Where Would You Like to be in 10 Years?

Wow! All of you who reported being morning workout warriors in yesterday’s writing prompt really inspire me!! I cannot get up early (maybe I should stop staying up late to draft blog posts …). Nah!

So today is day 3 of the August Healthy Living / Fitness Blogger Writing Challenge, and today we’re sharing where we’d like to be in 10 years from now:

10 years … A decade … It seems so far away, yet when I look back on my life, 10 years doesn’t really seem that long ago. I mean, my hubby and I bought our first house 10 years ago (which would have meant we’d be almost half way to owning it had we not decided to upgrade to a slightly larger house 5 years ago), and we got married just over 8 years ago, but I digress ….

I ‘m currently *gulp* 37 years old and have a 7 yr old, a 5 yr old and a 1 yr old (all girls). I ‘m also at the second Ã…”level  if you like, of my career path. There are 3 more levels for me to reach the Ã…”top  (aka Director).

So where do I see myself in 10 yrs from now?

I ‘ll be 47 with *gulp* a 17 yr old, 15 yr old, and an 11 yr old (holy crap!). I suspect that my life will be drastically different. For example: I ‘ll be able to go out to train/run/cycle/swim etc without having to make sure another responsible adult is home to watch the kids. However, juggling my training will be way different because I ‘m sure my training will need to be fit in amongst the chauffeuring I ‘ll be doing to get the girls to their jobs, sports, DATES (eeeek!) etc.

I think that I may currently be near that age where I ‘m hitting the top of my physical capabilities in terms of strength and endurance building. Which means I may have already set my absolute personal best race times? Eeeeek! That said, there is no way I ‘m letting up on my training just because I may have already Ã…”peaked  ” I ‘m going to keep on training to be the best me I can be!

In 10 years from now I’d like to:

  1. Be healthy, strong, still active and training for races ” tri’s, half marathons etc ” I don’t see myself changing that.
  2. Reach at least the next level in my career path ” I’d love to move up to a Sr. position or become a Manager. I don’t really know if I have a desire to go higher than that. That said, I’ve been contemplating leaving my career field and returning to the fitness industry where I originally started out. I ‘m really on the fence on that as my current job (that I love) is secure, rewarding, pays fairly well and has pretty good benefits ” so why would I leave? Decisions… decisions …
  3. Very involved in my daughters’ sports ” maybe even coaching?
  4. Over ½ way towards owning our home!

    No way, you are nowhere near your peak!! All achievable goals for sure!! If you do end up making a change back into fitness … I would love to work together!!! You are an amazing entrepreneur and inspire others daily. Thanks for all that you do.

      Thanks Julie! I’m still weighing the pros and cons as well as evaluating the potential revenue streams. The more & more I think about it though, the more crazy commuting to work seems. I could bring home more $$ and spend more time with the girls if I bit the bullet & started working from home. But I am so scared of leaving the security I have!!

    In 10 years I will be 48! Scary! I will have a 17 yr old son to help drive my 13 and 16 yr old daughters to their activities! I will continue to be fit, running marathons and lifting weights, though I do appreciate that my running times will have slowed a bit.

    My network marketing business in 10 years will have allowed for me to own our cabin and house outright! The residual income from the business will be paying for my kids to choose any college they want to go to and will have relieved my husband of all his “saving for retirement” stress! We will be traveling with the kids and loving life!

    Hey girl! No worries, you don’t have to quit your job … in fact I don’t recommend it until you’ve built a solid income from what you’re doing part-time. And yes, you could do a lot more as an entrepreneur – you certainly have the skills and the drive to be successful! Would love to be a part of that journey together!

    I’m currently just trying to make it to the end of the year, so it’s hard to think about 10 years. But thinking where I was 10 years ago – my, how life has changed!!

    In ten years, I hope to be married, and living a meaningful life. Sounds really vague huh? I dream about the day when I can afford and give dedication into my yoga teacher training. I would also like to be at my healthy goal weight. Can’t wait to see what’s in store!

    it’s crazy to think that far in advance! i’ve barely been alive 20 years, and it just seems so far away, even though I know it’ll probably fly by

    Your girls are precious! I tend to live in the present but I certainly have my sights on a few things for our future. I only have one kid but I too am looking forward to when she’s fine at home on her own so I can go work out!
