My Dream Fitness Vacation

Today for the September Blogging Challenge our topic is:

Your dream fitness vacation.

When I go on vacation I ALWAYS bring my running gear with me because I find that running (or walking) around a city (literally) is one of the best ways to *really* get to see it. I ‘m pretty sure this tradition started for me when I was 11 when I roller skated all around Holland with my family. It was then that I fell in love with seeing places by foot, and have since continued that: I ran on vacation in Peurto Vallarta, ran up and down the strip in Vegas, through Central Park in New York, pushed 2 young children in strollers around Orlando, FL., jogged with a jogging stroller with a 2 month old baby in Honolulu, Hawaii (the buses don’t allow strollers), and recently walked all around downtown Boston with my husband. That all said, I have yet to do a DESTINATION RACE. I did do a Marathon in Ottawa, ON and another in Niagara Falls ” but I visit both of those places so frequently that I don’t consider those to be destination races.

So what destination races do I want to do?

My top 3 (in no particular order) are:

  1. Disney Princess Half Marathon – I would absolutely LOVE to be treated like a Princess for a weekend AND run a half marathon surrounded by other Princesses.
  2. Ragnar So Cal Relay – I’ve never been to California, and I’ve never run a relay race. Combining the two together in one vacation would be awesome!
  3. Yoga Beach Vacation – I don’t know which resort is best, but I heard that Mizfit is going to the Grand Velas in Riviera Maya to experience HARIJIWAN, kundalini yoga and it would be really cool to go and say “Ohm” with her.20120911-165716.jpg

    I had a bit of fun wit this one. I’m not all that keen on 1/2 or full marathons so a full out destination race thingy is not my thing. But here it is:

    I want to do the Disney Princess Half so badly! It sounds like such an incredible and fun experience.

    I honestly haven’t thought about it. I think it should involve yoga, Zumba or water aerobics. And some where with awesome weather so I can walk around. Maybe somewhere I can hike! Hmmm….I must investigate this further! Thanks Janice!!! Oh whole world I never even imagined! You are awesome!
