Happy Monday everyone! Did you have a good weekend? Are you ready to get back to the grind?
I had a fantastic week! As my post title suggests, it was my good friend Laura’s wedding week. I had the honour of being one of her Bridesmaids, and my two oldest daughters were Jr. Bridesmaids, and my youngest daughter was her Flower Girl.

Between the wedding, rehearsal, the rehearsal dinner, going to the spa with the Bridal Party, and out for dinner with the Bridal Party the night before the wedding, the week was a whirlwind of friends, fun, laughter, food and wine…. it was a blast!!
This is Pasqualino – where we went for dinner the night before the wedding.
On the wedding day, Laura looked absolutely stunning and every detail was perfectly planned out. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was a blast. The kids did an amazing job of entertaining us, and I tried my best to dance off all of the food I ate from the entire week.

Workout wise my week was so-so. Truthfully there really wasn’t much time to for workouts between all of the wedding events, work and coaching softball. My week started strong, then fizzled out by the end of the week.
Monday: Ran 6k with Juliette
Tuesday: Full body strength workout at lunch, coached softball after work (sort of – our game got rained out)
Wednesday: Ran 8k with Juliette, coached softball after work
Thursday: Busy day at work, then rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
Friday: Another busy day at work, spa for nails with the bridal party, the bridal dinner
Saturday: Wedding day!
Sunday: Kettlebell workout in the back yard 5sets of 20-20-20: 20 kettlebell swings, 20 squat presses, 20 russian twists X 5 sets
I love my Kettlebell workouts by the pool.
I also tried to log all of my food on MyFitnessPal which really helped me to be a lot closer to my calorie and nutritional goals than had I not tracked. As I’ve mentioned before, I seriously LOVE MyFitnessPal! After 3 weeks of tracking I am down 3lbs and 0.8% body fat. I’m trying to go slow and steady, while ensuring that I eat enough protein so that I can maintain muscle. My goal is to improve my body composition as the amount of over-eating I did and burning off of my muscle while training for Ironman 70.3 Muskoka has left me a little softer than I wanted. It’s time to get that muscle back!!
Here’s this week’s fitness plan:
Monday: Run 8k speed play with Juliette before work, then coach softball after work
Tuesday: DailyBurn Yoga for Runner’s before work with Becky & Juliette. then strength at lunch or after work
Wednesday: Run 8k before work – hills?
Thursday: DailyBurn Yoga for Runner’s before work with Becky & Juliette. then strength at lunch or after work
Friday: Run 8k before work – easy
Saturday: Run before Brooke’s select softball tournament
This week I’m really excited to get back to the grind and to try out these new New Balance Vazee Pace running shoes that were sent to me by New Balance Canada. They’re a performance shoe for runners looking for stability. They’re light (6.5 oz versus my Mizuno Wave Riders that are 7.8oz), so they’re perfect for racing in and for speedwork, though I probably wouldn’t wear them for long training runs.
The stress of planning birthday parties, wedding events, BBQ’s etc are all now well behind me so it’s time to buckle down and take back control, which makes me ridiculously happy… I hate planning things!
