This past week I took advantage of a wonderful opportunity – to tag along on my husband’s business trip to Honolulu Hawaii! 9 wonderful days in what I consider to be the closest to paradise I’ll ever get. Sierra and Brooke went to my Mother-in-law’s place, and hubby and I took baby Amber with us. (Unfortunately that’s one of the limitations of breastfeeding).
Baby Amber was a travelling champ! She slept the whole trip – only waking up to smile, giggle, nurse and poop. She’s freaking awesome!
While I was in Honolulu, I discovered a hidden little gem – Stroller Strides Honolulu!
Can you imagine getting fit in Paradise?
Before we left for our trip I googled “Stroller Strides Hawaii”. My community center offers a stroller fit class here in Canada that I’ve taken, and I knew that the US had a chain called Stroller Strides, so I was curious to see if there was a group I could workout with during the 5 days of alone time I had. Lo and behold! I found a Stroller Strides franchise in Honolulu, so I emailed Michelle the owner and she quickly emailed me back!
Tuesday of our trip I got up and joined Michelle at Ala Moana Beach Park for class. I didn’t know what to expect – was the class going to be a social walk or a kick butt workout? I had forgotten my good sports bra at home so I was hoping for a low-impact class. Well Michelle certainly found a way to give me a great tough workout while keeping it low-impact. I had no idea you could do so many strength moves with a resistance band! I had a blast – Michelle and the other ladies from the class were super duper nice, and I certainly got a great workout! I had such a good time that I went again on Thursday morning. If only I had known how close Kapiolani Park was – I could have gotten up earlier and jogged over to there for a class on Monday, Wednesday and Friday too.
If you ever find yourself in Honolulu with a stroller and a baby, whether you live there or are just visiting, you must join Michelle for a Stroller Strides class – she will give you a great FUN workout! There are two locations:
ALA MOANA BEACH PARK: Tues/Thurs 9 am – park at the very end of the parking lot and we meet under the tree just to the left.
WAIKIKI (KAPIOLANI BEACH PARK): Mon/Wed/Fri 9am – across the street (ocean side ) from the Queen Kapiolani statue near the Bandstand.
