Which Vitamins and Supplements Do You Take?

Here we are on Day 3 of the September Healthy Living and Fitness Blogger Writing Challenge already! Time is flying by (oh wait, I said that in Motivation Monday post too). Yesterday we talked about Lance Armstrong, and his doping/supplementation scandal, so today we’re talking about:

Which vitamins and supplements do you take?

I WAS taking several, but have since run out and have been a major bum and not purchased more.  That said, I can totally see a difference in my recovery, energy etc from not taking them.  What was I taking you ask?  Before I answer that I have to put in a little disclaimer: I’m a Swiss Natural  Brand Ambassador – everything I was taking was provided to me free of charge by Swiss Natural.  That said, they all actually greatly helped me:

Basically a multivitamin, a calcium chew with vitamin D and a probiotic.  I’ve also been known to take an Omega-3 Fish Oil supplement, but have been adding chia seeds to my cereal and yogurt instead lately just because I totally hate swallowing pills:

I honestly believe my supplements were really helping me as I set new PR’s in EVERY race distance that I’ve done this year: the half marathon, 10k, 5k and even most recently the duathlon!  Having the right protein as well as vitamins and minerals are a very important part of my training (which means it’s time for me to stock back up).

PS – Need more vitamins, protein powder etc?
Then come back tomorrow because I’ve got a GNC gift card up for grabs in a giveaway!

Disclaimer: I’m a Swiss Natural Ambassador but have NOT been compensated for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I didn’t even think about it when I wrote my post, but I do use protein powder and chia seeds, but I mainly think of them as food, not supplements. I use Trader Joe’s protein powder, mostly because it’s cheap =)

    Thanks for the challenge Janice!
My story is similar to yours – never use to take any, but now attribute race recovery because of them.
Chia is in my diet too!

I’m in the same boat. I wrote my post and then thought about protein powder which I sometimes use.

I don’t have chia seeds (too expensive for my sad bank account), but I never thought of them as a supplement either. I thought it was just a seed… or whatever. I want to try them, especially after reading Born to Run!

I don’t regularly take any vitamins/supplements. I see this as mostly a good thing, though.

Never tried the Chia seeds. Wrote about how we have moved to following Skinny Rules from Bob Harper.

I’m catching up on all the blog posts 🙂 My list from my first bodybuilding competition was pretty long because I had to 1) lose 50 lbs., 2) gain lean muscle mass. But don’t worry – my list is shorter this time around (just building muscle!)
