How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?

That’s today’s Blogging Challenge question.  To which I’m going to have to say, apparently not often enough.  I put on one of my favourite pairs of jeans tonight to go drive the bike back that I borrowed from my friend Emma so I could do that triathlon 2 weeks ago, and found that my jeans fit me quite a bit “better” than they did the last time I wore them in May.  Oooops!

As I said on Monday, I owe it all to too much chocolate, and not enough running. Mmmmmm Chocolate!

I honestly can’t remember the last time I stepped on a scale, because we threw our scale  out.  Then, I was using the Wii fit to weigh myself, but the battery for the Wii board thing-a-ma-bob died.  I think that was sometime in June.  So here I am a few months later wearing tighter jeans having totally forgotten all about the post I wrote last year about non-scale ways to measure progress.  Perhaps I should have been doing that instead of all of the consumption of wine and chocolate?

Either way, its fall & winter is right behind it.  Which means my three favourite seasone for running are here (I can’t stand running in the summer heat), and it means that with any luck, and a lot of self-control and hard training, those jeans will fit me again.

    I kind of went off on a bit of a tangent. I rarely weigh myself.

    Normally, I weigh most every day. I give myself a two pound window, if I go outside that window I take a look at what I’m doing wrong. The times I don’t weigh is when I’m in binge mode.

    I have used Wii Fit to do my weigh-ins ever since I wanted to lose weight and then continued from there, we had a scale too but my wife threw it out because I was always complaining that there was a difference between the two numbers.

    No time for a blog post today, but I maybe weight myself once a month, if that. I don’t even own a scale! If I want to check, I have to go to the one at the gym or use my Wii fit, which I practially never use anymore. Poor neglected Wii.

    I rarely weigh myself. Maybe once every couple of months. I find it affects my mood too much, so I avoid it. Even when I go to the doctor, I pass on the scale. I hate stepping on it with heavy clothing on:0

    Not every day, but most days of the week. I just hop on to see if I am still within the same weight window. I don’t want to gain back those 100lbs!

    I can’t pass a scale and not weigh myself… it’s terrible!
    however, I don’t have a scale in my apartment and therefore don’t weigh myself very often when I’m living there full time….

    Being a typical guy, and fluttering around the same weight for over 5 years now, i very rarely weigh myself. Maybe once 1 month. I try to only weigh my clients once every 1-2 weeks if i have control over it (which i rarely do). I’m not gonna be that guy who preaches to all of you, cause I know you’ve heard it all before. But lose or gain, its the process not the outcome. Thanks great post

    With the first bout of cooler weather hitting Toronto, I put on some jeans and had the same reaction as you, they were definitely a lot snugger than I remember them being in the spring after I’d run a half marathon. I too, can’t stand running in the summer heat and humidity (my husband thinks I’m crazy) and am determined (hopeful) to get those jeans back to feeling a little bit looser after getting back into running again. So the short answer to your question is that I rely on how my clothes fit way more than weighing myself (I rarely do it).

    I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE chocolate and wine. And I HATE, HATE, HATE my scale. It is banished.
