Things I Do When I’m Not Running, Blogging or Working

Happy Friday everyone! Today my kids have an extra long weekend off of school for the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Our Thanksgiving is on Monday, so they have that day off too. Why our Thanksgiving is 6 weeks before the U.S. one is beyond me. Though I’m not going to complain because I rather like it – it gives me a good chance of working off all of the Thanksgiving overeating before the Christmas overeating begins (just being honest). Anyways, because the kids are off I took a vacation day from work to spend with them.

No work today!

Which brings me to the topic of today’s post:

Things I Do When I’m Not Running, Working or Blogging

I thought it would be fun today to give you a deeper glimpse into my life. I write a lot about my running and I don’t share much else. Last week’s post “50 Questions You Didn’t Think to Ask Me” was so fun that I thought I’d carry that on this week, who knows, maybe I’ll make “Fun Friday” a frequent feature?

I Binge Watch NetFlix

As I mentioned last week my favourite shows are: The Big C, Orange is the New Black, Mad Men, Pretty Little Liars, and Breaking Bad. I also heard that Walking Dead is pretty good so perhaps that will be my next guilty pleasure?

I Play Boardgames with the Kids

Lately our favourite game is Monopoly Jr. – why does the banker always win?!?

I Hang Out at the Arena Watching my Family Play Hockey

Hubby plays Thursday nights and coaches Brooke’s team, and Brooke and Sierra are playing on two separate teams this year. Little Amber will start skating lessons in January.

Coaching is serious business.

I Chill Out with My Friends

We get together almost every weekend for a dinner. Next summer Laura is getting married and Juliette, Julie, Christine and I are all Laura’s bridesmaids. This means there will be lots more “planning” meetings and chilling out. Next week we get to go Bridesmaid dress shopping!

Speaking about Shopping…. I Go Shopping

New outfit!

I Teach Myself CSS, PHP & HTML

My latest projects are two stylish themes I’ve been designing for WordPress blogs using the Genesis Framework called “Fashionista” and “Sweet Kitchen“.

I’ve been having fun trying to figure out how to make my themes mobile responsive, how to add a ton of widget areas like a widget area in a fixed navigation bar for social icons, and giving them lots options like multiple color schemes, custom headers and backgrounds. I’ve been working on these themes off and on for six months and they are both now getting close to being ready for me to start selling.

I honestly don’t know how I have time for everything, but somehow I manage!

Question/Sharing: What are some of your hobbies?

I am glad the we Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving ‘early’ because in the U.S. Thanksgiving is the start of the holiday season so it’s really 7 weeks long and that is too much for me!

When I am not running, exercising, working or blogging, I like to read, travel with my husband, shop, and create beaded jewellery. I also like to do needle work and read but never seem to have the time anymore!

Fun! What kind of needle working do you do? I also have done some counted cross-stitch and am teaching my two oldest how to do rug hooking.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! I binge watch on Netflix too! It’s amazing how quickly you get sucked into watching just one more episode… I love chilling with friends and family too. And shopping of course!

Happy Thanksgiving (that is wierd this early!). When I’m not blogging, I’m usually hiking, studying, working, or working out. Not in that order. 🙂

WOW you have a lot going on outside of the blog!! Those themes look beautiful. I need to update mine – just don’t want to hassle with fixing anything or putting something back that went away w/ the update.

I feel so busy between teaching, blogging, and training that when I have free time I am all about NetFlix time on the couch. It is my favorite way to just relax.

Family time at the top of my list! And not necessarily for blogging photography. From food to kids to nature. I love taking pictures.

Wow, you are super mom! How do you get that all done! Besides running, blogging/reading and paying attention to my daughter, there is not much left. But I wouldn’t change it for anything! 🙂
