My First High 5 Friday

Happy Friday everyone!

I saw High Five Friday on Happy Fit Mama’s blog and thought it would be fun (and easy) to take part in. By the end of the week I feel so burnt out that I don’t really know what to write about and if I do come up with an idea I get complete writer’s block and struggle to pour those thoughts out of my brain. Do you have that struggle too? High Five Friday is a link up to share 5 pictures from your Instagram account and to share 5 great posts that you’ve read this week. I really like the ease in putting together a post for this link up. So without any further ado, here’s my first High Five Friday post:

High 5 Friday

5 of this week’s photos from Instagram:

First things first, are you following me on Instagram? If not, you totally should, I’m fitnesscheerleader.

1. On Tuesday I went for my first midday run in what seems like ages, I loved how good I felt afterwards!

2. Paid my respects at the war memorial on Wednesday at the park beside my work.

3. The rain on Thursday made me sad to miss my run (yes – I’m a total wimp and I don’t run in the rain).

4. Although I missed my run, I made up for it with an intense Black Fire workout by Bob Harper on DailyBurn.

5. I’m cleaning up my eating (again) one meal at a time. This week I’ve started with healthier breakfasts.

5 of my favourite reads this week:

1. Learning from Disappointment by My God, My Music, My Life

Although I’m not religious, I found the key message in this post motivating and I could relate because many of the thoughts the author’s wife felt from her recent race I have felt before.

2. you can’t pay your rent with “the unique platform and reach our site provides” by Wil Wheaton

I have had a mad crush on Wil Wheaton ever since I saw the movie Stand By Me as a little girl, and this post totally makes me love him even more. In case you didn’t know it, Wil Wheaton is one of my celebrity boyfriends.

3. Molly Huddle Campaigns for Female Runner emoji by Runners World

Thank you, thank you, thank you Molly! I have wanted to respond with to texts/tweets with a female runner emoji a million times, hopefully she’s successful and can make this happen!

4. Rise and Shine – Athlete and Running Ultimate Motivation – Ok, so this isn’t a read, but I needed this motivation this week:

5. 13 Awesome Things You Didn’t Know Were Made in Canada by Reader’s Digest

I was doing some research for my daughter’s Grade 3 French product and came across this article. Even though I’m Canadian I didn’t know these amazing things were made here.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

I haven’t tried any of Bob Harper’s on line videos. That sounds intense and I need to check it out. Have a great weekend

They are pretty intense, but I make modifications, even though he says not to! 🙂 Sometimes this 51 year old body just does not move like it use to, and I figure as long as I’m giving it MY all, then that’s ok. And I’m still sweating like crazy at the end!

I LOVE the Blackfire workouts! I joined DailyBurn to save money on a gym membership as well as cut out travel time to and from the gym, and Blackfire is AWESOME! I also like the other DailyBurn programs – the “15” program is a fantastic workout in 15 minutes – HIIT! Thanks for sharing your High5Friday!

The struggle is definitely real! And that’s exactly why High 5 Friday came about. It’s easy, it’s fun and you spread good reads – what’s not to love? Thanks for linking up! Have a great weekend!

Yes! A girl runner emoji would be awesome! I generally don’t run in the rain either…I’d actually rather run when it’s snowing as long as it isn’t icy out.

I love mid-day runs. Most people are at work and you usually have the road to yourself! With this fall weather it’s so invigorating!

I thought the 13 things you didn’t know were made in Canada was very interesting too! I liked Wil Weaton in Star Trek The Next Generation. Did you catch him when he was on Big Bang theory? I have a hard time with “cleaning up” my eating! I love chocolate, and chips, my two weaknesses.

I like your take on cleaning up your eating one meal at a time. I tend to get overwhelmed and go ALL MY MEALS MUST BE HEALTHY but your way seems like it’ll work for me.

I don’t like running in the rain either. If its raining, I head straight to the gym to run on the treadmill.

I love that Rise & Shine video! I came across it a few years ago and it totally gets me pumped up before a workout.

This is a great idea for a post and one I may have to tap into if I stumble into writer’s block in the future… 😉
